TERA billed itself as "God of War-esque combat in an MMO" and fell really short of that mark. I grew bored of the combat when it seemed more like WoW combat without auto-attack. Blade and Soul manages to come across much more like an action game, with air juggling and knockdowns, counters, and such. I was worried for a bit in Beta that the combat in B&S was taking a turn toward the TERA style, until something happened that blew my mind. Random trash mobs were using my own tactics against me. I had to start thinking about my battles instead of going through my standard combos and dodging when necessary. I had to put up a legitimate defense and come into a fight with a real game plan. Now, of course, these were just trash mobs, and beaten easily, but it's not a game you can mindlessly click through. Bosses were a real challenge, and I got my bell rung a lot when they pulled a combo on me that I wasn't expecting.
