The same reason CNJ no longer can cast fire, Ice and Lightning magic. (Or Flare). It's not that Conjurers lost the ability to do so, it's just that those abilities were given to THM to make the classes fall in line with the more iconic jobs. I can't speak for how it played, as I joined 1.0 around the 1.20 patches. Dalamud was already in the sky and a lot of Yoshi-P changes had taken place. (He was trying pretty hard to save the game).
