Leaving corpses unattended in Eorzea often ends up with said corpses being possessed by various entities like voidsent, ghosts and the likes if I remember correctly. There is also the soul that can remain behind and not follow through the aether realm if it has an attachment strong enough, or something? I'm really getting that on top of my head here though. I would have to look back for sources. Balmung: Suen Shyu
