Arvid literally needed to get out of his mother's basement and stop working for her company. Had to stop being sheltered. Needed to go see the world. Twenty seven and never kissed a woman? It's time to cut the cord, mom. He dropped his arcanist studies and more or less ran away from home. Turns out, he's still a momma's boy, because he meets with his mother three times a week for dinner anyways.
