There have been several people in this thread alone saying they're new and lost on what to do. Yes, I want things to run smoothly for SB, but I also know a closed server will cause new players to go elsewhere, and over time as RPers leave naturally, no one will come to replace them. This isn't about the cares of a single person, it is about helping the community continue as it has for 5 years, something that many of us have put forth a lot of effort and work to grow into what it is now.
When you say that Balmung being closed will cause new players to go elsewhere, are you saying new players will go to other games or servers?
I think we oughta slow down with all the doomsaying. Balmung temporarily closing its doors due to high congestion near expansion launch won't be the end of RP as we know it. We've not yet seen how this will effect the roleplay community. Who knows? Maybe this could potentially lead to a boon for RP on other servers.

EDIT: Also, to give an example of what Momo was talking about. I've been talking to a group of people from WoW planning to come over to XIV. They'd literally been ready to transfer within days only to find out they no longer can. These people are heavy RPers that wanted a heavy RP community, and now several of them are no longer playing at all. So yes, this does actively deter new players.
