Gender is immaterial to me for sure (just not to everyone). You could be male, female, both, had a gender change, could even consider yourself neutral, and it wouldn't be a problem. I was just asking if anyone had received grief once someone found out about their gender not matching their characters because that's happened to me in the past and I couldn't understand why the other person was so annoyed. 
That was yeaaars ago though, and it's way less of a problem these days - I think because like a lot of you said, it's more widely done/known.
It's not difficult for me to play female characters - I just have less of an interest in them than I do in male characters, and I'm very comfortably female OOCly.
