So I've got a character idea that I think works, but just wanted to drop it here for some constructive criticism - ideas that are frowned upon, don't make sense, or just outright lorebreaking, among other things. Rather than him and haw about what I'm concerned about, I'll just drop a profile I filled out a while back for my old guild's forum and let y'all tear it to pieces. Thumbsup

VarnCharacter Name: Varn Kriegspire
Roleplaying Alias: Varnaumont "Varn" Kriegspire
Race: Wildwood Elezen
Birthplace: South Shroud
Birth date/Name day: Sixth Sun of the Sixth Astral Moon
Discipline: Machinist/Gunner, Pugilist
Guardian Deity: Nymeia
Profile: A man who's seen his fair share of shit, Varn embodies the sort of lawbringing outlaw told in stories by frontiersmen of the desert. As a young Elezen, he was originally raised to be a proper young son for the proud Kriegspire family. However, the Calamity forced the family from their home and into the southern deserts of Thanalan. The combination of the heat, parched environment, and "group of survivors" mentality in the desert served to even out the Kriegspires' temperament. Varn himself was then raised to be more tough than proper after the relocation, and that combined with his hot temper led to a lot of unnecessary street fighting. It wasn't until his parents were taken from him by highroad bandits and seeing the inaction of those in the refugee encampment that he realized he needed to temper his blind fury with discipline, that he might dish out justice the only way the lawless would understand. He traveled out to the railyards and signed on with the local militia as a pugilistic guardsman. It was after overturning a highwayman's hoard that he uncovered a stash of magitek equipment that held no merit for him save one piece. The gun was of great interest to Varn, and he kept it for himself to study and train with to adapt to his brand of lawbringing. The added firepower was a wary addition to the militia, but eventually he proved his ability with the weapon would be helpful to the village.

Years and years passed, and Varn saw many people come and go from the railyards' employ. He eventually even became the head guardsman of the militia, but it wasn't until trouble started stirring in Eorzea that he bid his newfound home town adieu to bring his brand of justice to the world at large.

Considering changing up some details of his backstory, like how he became a gunner, but otherwise that's the basic gist of what I have in mind.
