Welcome to Final Fantasy XIV!
Much better than WoW Tongue

I've had characters on both Mateus and Omega myself, the alternatives to Balmung. Even though I am from the EU, I've found I much prefer Mateus as a roleplay server. I find it to be more open, friendly and have a much wider range of roleplays happening.

Feel free to shoot me a message, I'd be happy to roleplay with you sometime, and also help you with the game itself if wanted.
