Interesting revisions of old monsters, gunblades, cute girls, a token black guy, TRANSFORMERS, a baby chocobo, the Soul Calibur, amazing visuals, a decent story, tons of back story and information about the world right in the game. You are not alone in the FXIII love. I think most people disliked the first few hours (ERMAHGERD HALLWAYS) and quit before they got to the actual meat of the story (which I will admit, is a very bad design flaw. I'm not a full-fledged game designer yet and even I know that was a bad call on SE's part) but the graphic designs, the character development, and the amount of detail put into the world and its lore was fantastic.
The only thing I couldn't stand about it was Hope, god that kid annoyed me. I never played FFXIII-2 unfortunately, was too broke when it came out and never bothered to go back and get it when I had the money, though now I kind of want to play it with all this talk about FFXIII.
Also, not alone on the Hope hate.
I actually do have XIII-2, but I still haven't played it...the fact that I took it out of the wrapping at some point is a miracle in itself.
