As of right now, SE has confirmed twelve "main" gods. Whether this list includes the familiar avatars depicted in the pictures is still up for debate. My guess is that the "Twelve" will be separate beings that will be more on par with Vana'diel's Altana and Promathia though in the sense that they'd have no physical representation of themselves in the game. So far, they've named two of the Twelve: Llymlaen, Goddess of Navigation and Nymeia, Goddess of Fate. Personally, I'm eagerly waiting to hear more about the other 10, even if just their names. Until I hear more, I have no idea where my main character will go in terms of religion.
