I don't quite agree with the overall score. I would push it up one more to 9 because of the unflinching, flawed character of Joel. He's no hero and it's a credit to the dev team that they made a game where one reflexively sympathizes with him. It's best discussed in spoiler zones as the ending has a lot to do with how I feel about it.
