My character, Momoji (who will be a plainfolk on release to deal with a naming convention nightmare), is a young plainsfolk hailing from far of La Noscea that came to Ul'dah to study the art of Thaumaturgy at the temple of Nald'Thal. Momoji is a studious little bookworm who intends to become a loremaster of the arcane by studying all known branches of arcana, and then subsequently apply those teachings to the culinary arts. While not much of a writer, he dreams of being the author of a book called "Cooking with Fire I-III: A Thaumaturge's Guide to the Culinary Arts."
I had already figured that I'd be leveling thaumaturge when I played the open beta. What I didn't anticipate was enjoying all the disciplines of magic in the game, so I changed up my character's back story to better fit my play style. I even went so far as to have him come from La Noscea instead of Thanalan like I originally planned. But I was only able to do all that because I haven't established my character yet. I'll probably end up playing Scholar, Summoner, Black Mage, and White Mage. As to which will be my focus at end game, that will take some more time to figure out.
