Or maybe it's just that we've played it for too long? While I completely agree that WoW is a bit worn out, it sounds like they're doing some really interesting things in Cataclysm. I'm going to check it out, sure, but I'm not super excited about it right now, and it might not be at launch.
But I agree with your point, WoW might have worn itself out a bit. I hope for them the changes in Cataclysm will add some new life.
On the note of FFXIV becoming mainstream... While the FF series already has a big fanbase, I doubt it will become the same "type" of popularity as WoW has, and as Asyria, I sort of hope not. While a larger fanbase can be great in some ways, it has its dangers as well.
While I've had some great roleplay on WoW, and been in some awesome guilds, a lot of people are idiots. I'm sorry, but they are. Of course idiots are in all game, and the reason why there's so many in WoW is because it's larger, but still. I prefer being able to ask a simple question without being called "Noob", everybody was a new player once. It might not happen to me in WoW anymore, I've been playing that game for, what, 5 years as well, but I see it happen to other people, and it makes me sad. I love when a community comes TOGETHER and help eachother, instead of just thinking about themselves or their own guild.

I came for the ERP, I stayed for the free booze.
