There are some arguments for the F2P model but as far as i can see if a game is well managed then they can survive just fine on a subscription model. A lot of the ones who start as sub and move to F2P are just poorly run and slow with rolling out content and patches to keep people returning. Eventually they move to F2P and put the game on life support. My main problem with F2P is that it drags down the quality even further since instead of creating new content they concentrate on providing overpriced trinkets,buffs and advantages to make up for the lack of subscription money. I'd hate for the game to be torn apart with individual payments to use half the stuff in it. Sure you can have an optional subscription service still like some games have done for benefits but these don't make up for the overall drop in quality control.
If a game wants to have a cash shop and whatever else with optional vanity items fine but in the F2P model it becomes too much of a priority as a major money maker. If a game is good and stays good people will pay for it as long as it benefits them to do so.
On a side note that man has beautiful hair. I sort of want to touch it to see what it feels like.
