Intriguing idea. I share similar sentiments as Axl. I still use ventrilo with some old RL WoW friends, but every time I joined a guild vent chat when playing on the EU servers I felt very self conscious for getting a bit of undesired attention. From that point on if I was on I was usually silent/muted.

If it's something official you're after, there'd be a lot to keep in mind - would it remain IC? Would there be separate channels for IC/OOC? What would it cost to maintain and who would see to the maintenance? Would we have enough slots to cater to all those interested in joining?
I'd be happy to contribute toward it if enough people wanted to get it off the ground, whether or not I actively participated in its use.
Oh and I use skype as well but usually for calls to my siblings across the giant pond.
