I think I almost wiped Copperbell run on the first boss that way. Our guide (ACN), said to go in and just kill stuff. Â When I saw DPS and healer with Spriggans on them I had a 'AW S****' moment and started blasting Overpower. Â The damage I took ended up being too much for healer to recover me from. Â I KO'd, you know the rest.
Fortunately, the guide didn't give up on me and we got through the other fights really well. Â If a hissy fit had ensued, I'd probably walk though. Â I dealt with enough of those in Rift when my ex-guild moaned about my DPS meter as a bard. Â :\
TL;DR: I know I'm a sucky newb, but don't forget when you needed guidance either
I'm really not sure that you did anything wrong here. Â A healer having adds on them is bad, and they need to be picked up (unless it's something like a fixate, and even then, the adds still need to die ASAP). Â Did you just not get out of the AoE? Â Because yeah, that'll one shot you.
If you need a healer, poke me. Â As long as I'm not being dragged by my ear through something, I'm generally happy to help new tanks.
