When you fall back to party chat, you limit the number of people and you close off from other RPers -- as you're implicitly making your scene private. Additionally, given the blacklist function, there's no reason why they can't avoid that which they don't like. Hiding away from people who are abusive when they don't like you isn't respecting the other player; it's letting the abuser win.
