As I understand it, the main forces made a general retreat and it was the adventures(the warriors of light<WoL) that got saved by magic. there are plenty of NPCs that talk about the battle and the brave souls that stood at the fore(WoL again)  Others might have a bit more detail for you, but I would surmise that if your character a part of the general military units they would have fallen back ahead of time and had a much better chance of survival than those few who remained/retreated last. (just watch the opening cut-scene you'll see where they call for the retreat =) ) Rogier LeCard Lubblyss Zwelfskalwyn
