-The Chronicals of Project Seven pt.2

Project One told me he had been watching me for sometime, that the reason other projects never came back to the cells is because they were failed experiments, and that I was an exception. Project one began to explain to me what they do to us, what they make us forget. They would inject us with a type of toxin that sends us into a black out feral rage, and pit us against each other in fights to the death. That would explain why some of the others never came back. He told me that they we were weapons, bred to fight and kill for an evil cause.

I often wondered why after all this time, he would trust another project to hide throughout the walls with him, but when I'd bring up the question he would quickly brush it off and avoid the subject.
One day project one sat me down, he explained that throughout the years, he had been mapping the entire laboratory. Possible escapes, locations of other holding cells, the fighting pit, where we were and important areas with thin walls or vents to retrieve information. It became apparent that he was very sick, and could no longer continue with his plans of escape, that I was the one to finish his work.

I started to get more used to the layout of the lab. We were lucky to have the ancient tunnels throughout the walls to stay hidden and retrieve information. Project one showed me
the secret entrance from the walls into the holding cells, how he came to find me dying. I saw the others, a lot less then when I was last here. All cowering mindless beasts, weakened by the brutal fights that they have no memory of. I couldn't let them share the same fate as the others. It was time to escape, but I couldn't leave the others there to die. I had to come up with a plan.

One day while listening through a thin wall, 2 people were speaking about their adventures of the outside world. I decided to follow them through the walls as they walked and spoke of giant city's with huge walls bustling with life and people, freedom. A place called Ul'dah. I continued to follow them, eventually coming to a dead end. I head a few words being spoke and a loud noise. A door! The exit, this is where it must be! I searched the walls around me and found an area with weak foundations. The cobble stone was very old, barely able to keep itself up. This was my way out, our way out, but I couldn't leave the others behind.

I went back to project one to tell him of my discovery, but it was too late. Project one layed there, with a smile on his face, but he was gone. A sadness fell over me. All that my mentor has done for me, and I can't give him the escape he so long dreamed for. He saved my life, and without his sacrifice I wouldn't be here today. It was now or never, I had to get out soon! But how?
I planned for days, eventually coming up with an idea. It was the only way I knew how to save the other projects and escape without being found out. I had to go back to the cells and act like the beast that I was. I couldn't let them know of the knowledge I was given, I must have them think I'm just like the rest, a beast with no sense of independent thought or ability to comprehend what is happening.

It was time. I went to the wall that leads into the cells and watched as the others were taken away to there experiments, and more being thrown back into the cells, beaten and broken, exhausted and weak, like I was before project one saved me. Once all the projects were back in the cells and the guards were away, I snuck my way back into the cells and layed on the ground like the others, blending in the best I can. The others began to notice me, but were too weak to move or speak. I was in, and my plan was going into effect. There was no turning back, I must get out of here with the others, or face the same fate I escaped all that time ago.
Day came, and with day came experiments. I knew what they were to do to us, but unlike the others, I was ready. I heard the bustling of the guards down the hall from our cells. They were coming. The others knew as well, and started to hide and cower into the shadows, but I went to the door of the cell, making sure I was the first to be chosen for experimentation. The guard opened the door and looked at me, confused with my lack of fear, with my willingness to be taken to testing rooms. He shrugged and grabbed me forcefully by the neck and dragged me down the hall. My plan was working perfectly.

To be contuinued...
