Hello everyone!
My name is Greider, and I will step out and admit that this is my first time in FFXIV! As a fair warning i tend to be a bit of a chatterbox at first... ha!
I'm really excited to get going, and learning about the lore, world, and gameplay! I've literally just created a character before my game crashed
, but figured i'd poke around the webnets and see if there were any thriving RP groups out there. My searching was insanely brief, as i sort of fell in love with this site's welcoming nature and easy navigation.
My MMO background is honestly not very extensive. I played Lineage II way back in 2004/2005 until about 2008. I loved that game for reasons that escape me now, because its FTP and garbage these days. After that I played the Matrix Online, a little Guild Wars, and then got to playing FFXI. I didn't get far in FFXI before life started changing and i stopped with MMO's for lack of time.
I was never interested in WoW, or Everquest, or any of the bigger MMO's, to be quite honest. None of their worlds quite engulfed me like Lineage's and FFXI's... Then came FXIV- then they shut it down and rebirthed it. I heard it was decent, and it looked beautiful- so i had to try it. Downloaded, installed, and started playing only an hour or so ago
 so far i'm happy for what little I actually got to see.
My Roleplay experience goes back pretty far. I've done forum RolePlaying for as long as I was first allowed on the internet on dial-up. I have never done tabletop or anything like that, though. THat then bled over to RPing in Lineage, as well as FFXI. The other MMO's i played i merely played to play a game. I generally found it tough to get RP started, but once i did, i found it was the main reason i continued paying and playing. I love roleplay, and look to get immersed!
I have plenty of character ideas. All the time. It's a stigma of mine that I create way too many characters because i think of all kinds of neat new ideas. Though it's always slow to start in a new game for obvious reasons of researching and getting dunked in lore/story!
I aim to be a heavy roleplayer, but enjoy my OOC from time to time. Also will be OOC more often as I get used to the world for obvious reasons for learning's sake.
But outside of the FF world, I live in the US and work in the IT field. I live with my girlfriend [soon to be fiancee... SHH!] of four years and she likes games, but never really made the jump to getting any or actually playing [other than some of the console greats. Oblivion, Skyrim, Fable, Mass Effect, the like.. However she enjoys to take a glimpse from time to time. I am also learning Wing Chun and love to train! Hmmm..I have a degree in Graphic Design, so i like art and enjoy drawing when i find the time. I'm a pretty active guy, and don't always have the time i'd like to game, but i find that if I get stuck in a good RP group I get along with, it will keep me coming back!
Sorry for all the typing. TL;DR? Let's just shorten it up and say "Hi all, I am completely new to the game, and am looking to get a good foothold in a great RP community! I love to write and roleplay, and am looking forward to meeting and getting involved with you guys!"
