The Chronicle of Ferrous Tarkus:
"Almost all of what I know about myself and my history has had to have been pieced together from bits of a shattered past.  Worse still: the ghosts of Carteneau still haunt me from beyond the veil of amnesia."
From what he knows of his past and from what his sister had reminded him of, Ferrous Tarkus was born in Gridania along with her sister Gwenneth Rosemary Tarkus.  Being the elder of the two, he was also eager to forge his own path and find his own place in history.  It is perhaps his over-zealousness that put him in the position of where he is today.
At a young age he set off to Ul'Dah to attempt his hand in the mineral wealth that was being mined there, but it was the need of his fellow brothers that inspired him to join the ranks of the immortal flames not as a warrior but as a blacksmith and armorer. Â Eventually he caught the attention of the Sultansworn and was drafted into their ranks as an attendant squire. Â For Ferrous, this was a grand opportunity: he had always dreamed one day of being a member of the Sultana's Elite guard, and he saw this as a possible path of entry.
Alas, Fate had harsher plans.  As the Garlean Empire's XIVth Legion approached, war would soon follow.  Being re-assigned again to the immortal flames, Ferrous was present behind the scenes right up to the Battle of Carteneau itself...
...and this is where the story becomes shrouded in a haze of mystery that even Ferrous cannot piece together. Â What happened next is considered impossible by many--including Ferrous himself.
When the great moon Dalamud began falling from the sky, panic ensued in the ranks. Â It was in the midst of that panic that Ferrous Tarkus disappeared into the chaos. Â The official rolls of the Immortal flames listed him as 'Missing in Action, Presumed Dead.' Â To the dismay of his Parents and Sister, he was given up for lost.
It would be a long 5 years later that eventually, a wayward man would finally end up in Gridania.  Having less information about himself and his whereabouts, he took up work at first as a Conjurer until he was found among their ranks by his sister Gwenneth (who had since taken up her mother's maiden name Mason).  After a brief reunion, Ferrous began to piece himself and his history together.  The memory loss that he had suffered after Carteneau had robbed him of everything he had.  He couldn't even remember how he managed the long trek from the battlefield to Gridania.  The only thing he knew at that moment was that he had somehow returned home, and that somehow the pieces of his past lay out there.  Upon meeting her sister and those she herself had traveled with, he decided to join their ranks in an attempt to leave the shadows of Carteneau behind him.
But his original dream still burned within him: a desire to make his place in history. Â As time would pass, Ferrous would later become a Free-Paladin, and continue his travels along with his sister. Â Like her sister before him, he endeavors to share the burden of others by taking a portion of such upon his shoulders--perhaps scars of what he saw and lost memories of his lonely journey of 5 years.
As for what he knows about Carteneau and Dalamud, he would rather speak as little on the subject as he can.  His reasons in his own words:
"Yes, I was there at Carteneau that day but I'm not proud of it.  Many men... many who were far better than I were also there.  Most of them didn't make it, and only The Twelve know why they didn't make it while I did.  As for me, I would like to think that I forgot what happened there for a reason--to me, it's all in the past, and quite frankly, I hope it stays there."
RP style
Very much light on the RPing aspect... as I tend to be far too objective oriented for my own good.
I'm a big fan of RPing that allows me to help others, as I try to follow in my sister's style.
As for my views on Lore: it's Square's world, we're just a small part of it, but we can still help each other out.
I'm trying to get really good on crafting BTW.
