
Heh, well I think when you do work up to it you'll do a fine job in the Art thread. I agree with you that having a firm grasp of the design flow is important, my own writings took a time to get started because I wanted to have a large number of samples (marked by region and time period) to pull from as in game examples. Mostly trying to capture the flow of speech.
I speak french when ever I visit my family or talk to coworkers in Quebec, but I don't get much use out of it in the day to day. If you can work out a word or two it might be worth marking "F" in the search info panel (on the social pane) for your character, i've found that a) most people use the auto-translate anyways and b) I think match ups prioritize people with the same selected languages before placing them in a larger pool, just a hunch as my queue times are shorter during the same time period when I have both selected.
Like Moxxi said, the forums are a great place to get to know a few people or even make plans to meet in game. Hope you have the chance to meet lots of interesting people.
