I god damn love AC: Black Flag. It's like Assassin's Creed had a baby with Sid Meier's Pirates. The freedom to just sail anywhere and take pirates, or hunt sharks, or dive for treasure while doing missions is amazing. Frankly, I think the plot works better in this game than other AC games because the history gives us actual leeway to do what whatever they want. The AC games bothered me when they did things like put Leonardo DaVinci in a different city than where he was historically at the time for no reason, or set the Boston Tea Party IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. Also, the non-historical aspects are entirely optional so I can just pretend that the characters I've never given a damn about in the AC series don't exist. I've always hated the modern plotline. I've always wished that the AC games were just straight up historicals. This looks about as close to that as we'll ever get.
