Welcome. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the lore conflict. The process of cognative behavioural therapy is to start integrating first with others who share mutual conditions (PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and bi-polar can share CBT groups, for example) like the lore based Bronze Lake is set up, before moving on to a controlled mixed group (if possible, not all clinics have the option for this) as suggested, and eventually moving on to completely public areas, which would basically be returning home to their city states.
Not that it's possible to do it that way exactly any more most of the time, but from what I've read in the books I've gotten my hands on, that's what the original process was meant to be. The clinic I go to can't afford the middle stage, at least, but the people who came up with these kind of treatments in real life wanted them to work that way and in some extreme cases, they still have to be done that way but that's more on an individual basis, I believe.
