Whenever I feel a bit nervous or shy about sending pms/tells to people, I think of it this way: it's always nice to have someone you don't know pick your work out of the dozens of other works that they could have picked. It's complimentary. So, by showing interest in what they've built, you're essentially telling them that they've done a good job, and there's never enough of that in the world. So feel good about potentially brightening someone's day!
(I know it always makes me feel good when a stranger wants to rp with me, even if the rp itself doesn't pan out for whatever reason.
