Summoner has an easy-ish work around. You have to fight a primal in order to fight it's essence and get an Egi. If your character has the Echo, no problem, fight a primal at some point become a Summoner. It's tricky if your character doesn't HAVE the Echo, but there are ways around it as well that bend lore and not break it (It's stated in canon that people with a high willpower can resist tempering for instance)
