Lore is an interesting thing in this game. It's elusive and rarely gets handed to you, and the facts may not always be "fact." That said, I'll link you a few of my favorite places to get lore. And feel free to ask more lore questions on the RPC!

In-game you can also find many small lore references throughout the many hundreds of quests in Eorzea. But I find the best place to get concentrated lore about a topic is to complete the Class and Job quests, then return to those NPCs. Those NPCs will now offer you lore about your disciple as well as some other current events.
