That's why I'm playing it off as more of a mental trauma. The physical part may be healed, but there will always be mental scarring at having remembered the experience.

Yeah, while the wound might be healed, I imagine there's always going to be some residual memory of the fact it happened. To each their own, of course, but I'm of the same mindset as you.
