I did say often!

Although the ones where the NPCs stay alive tend to also involve destruction of property or corpse desecration. Or both.

I tend to not get a lot of action/adventure, but I am somewhat asking for it as an RPer who plays as a Retainer.  I can't honestly say whether it's too much action or adventure yet since action/adventure is all I've done as an RPer on mmos before aside from social banter on the side.

I get little to none of it, and it is the thing that most gets me down and dispirited I guess. I hoped that tavern roleplay would be a springboard to something more than more tavern roleplay but it doesn't seem to work that way for me yet. What I've always hoped for is a balance of adventure/action and social roleplay because things seem to stagnate for me when I only get one of the two kinds.

Tavern roleplay is a good way of meeting people, but it still takes effort to drive those relationships deeper.  Let the friends you've made know, OOCly or ICly, what you're looking for and see if you can't find some of it.

Most of my friends who have given me the opportunity to join adventure and action RP I've met through Tavern RP (Hi Verad, Hi Kiht, Hi Osric!)

edit: Oh, and I get more than I really expect or anticipate these days. I tend to leave action scenes to story-writing rather than in-game RP. But, when it happens, it can be really fun!

I'll admit that I certainly don't get enough despite Val being made more or less for that purpose. So, if anyone has any action/adventure plots and need a foul-mouthed Miqo'te to liven things up, let me know!

That also goes for other characters I have! Vallois, my Elezen mercenary, is good for those kind of things as well.

I don't think I've done action-combat a single time in-character: Doendraga's adventuring has always been "off screen" but I think that's mostly because he's a smuggler with a ship and there are no real good locations for sea-faring RP aside from that one ship that's in Limsa (but it's docked and not out in the big blue). 
I'd like to do more, because he's definitely a fighter, but I prefer a nice balance between combat/adventure and non-combat adventure or intrigue.

*sigh* If only we could have our own sea faring vessels...

I'd say a large reason this tends to happen is because most adventure-type RP happens in FCs, while most public events aren't adventure-oriented, owing to the fact that something like a tavern or auction or something is far, far easier to run than any plot involving action. Hell, the only regular action-oriented event I can even think of is the Grindstone.

Yeah, I can't imagine someone trying to RP something like an invasion with dozens of people out in the open lol

Try the big fish ship in Costa?  It's at least not docked, though I wouldn't call it a combat vessel :V

Far less on this game than I usually get. It's a lack of engagement on my end and committing to any particular character. I hope to change this in the expansion, once the dust settles a little bit.

Generally though, I try to pace it for myself. I tend to burn out quickly. Too much and I start to feel fatigue, too little and I get irritable and impatient.

It's when it's constant Michael Bay mode that I seek a means of escape.

If its the one I'm thinking of (and I may be wrong) it's not nearly big enough for anything either lol

I get a perfect amount imo. Aaron is always looking for things to get into and subconsciously looking for strong opponents (He consciously hates fighting yet he's always drawn to it somehow)

Thinking about doing something involving the lost city of ampdapor or ampdapor keep soon if anyone is interested in throwing ideas around lol.

Or targeting a Sahagin or Amal priest in one of those fares via assassination style

Not nearly as much as I'd want, but there's not much I can do. Work and school mean not much time for RP. :c

I think I also need to expand my RP circle quite a bit more.

It's my own fault, really--I don't make nearly as much effort to check the calendar as I ought to. Perhaps announcements on the in-game board would assuage my derp, but I'm working on it.

As a direct result of said derp, Steel does miss out on a bit of said action/adventure, though my efforts have begun to bear fruit on making sure she has plenty of faces to chop. In my headcanon, she does usual sellsword things, but they ultimately end up pretty unremarkable compared to, say, the achievements of other characters, and falling well short of the mark offered by the Warriors of Light.

In fact, Steel becoming powerful enough to become an "action hero" is sort of the crux of her story right now.

I actually didn't have privileges to change the company board till a few days ago so I was relying on derp derps Sato/Stanzie/Shinra to do it for me XD I forced Ellion into submission though and now have privileges again so I'll try to get the message out better now.

We have a lot of the story line around you and Tosh. Feel special... or nervous. Either/or.
