Certain cards are getting screen tears and jumps. I think they are 480's and something else. The game just isnt optomized yet for them.

I'm getting reports that it's the Radeon ATI 5770 and the rest of the series is running really choppy. The 480's are running alright, but like you said the game isn't optimized for it yet. As I'm getting a 480, I hope they fix this soon Tongue

I don't know hw much I trust the Benchmark. I got over 3000 and I have a Quadcore processer, and Nvidea GTX 260 (I think) graphic card, it should be enough to handle it. I haven't really had any probems in other games, and what I had seemed to have more to do with the connection than with the computer.

The benchmark runs all setting on high regardless on wither you put it on low or high.

If you can run Aion, you can run FFXIV... you MAY haver to turn off shadows however.

I dont have much need on shadows, anyway. Hell I barely ever paid attention to them during WoW after all. I turned them off one day to check something and never noticed they were gone in the first place..

It should be noted that they tuned the benchmark for future systems. They wanted to prove that the graphics will still be lovely and updateable for the future. So there shouldn't be a computer in existence for common retail that can score 8000 (hypothetically).

edit- also, due to them being sponsered by nvidia, if you're running ati you're going to get lower scores than if you were running nvidia. That stuff should be fixed by launch though.

According to this german page.. the higher the score the better.

1500 or less: terrible performance

1500 to 1999: Minimal performance

2000 to 2499: Playable

3000 to 4499: Good performance

4500 bis 5499: Great performance

5500 bis 7999: Marvelous performance

8000+: Superior

Higher the better. In order to run the game you need at least a 1500. However, the benchmark runs all setting on high, including shadows. There's a good chance your slow down is due to that. IF you have an ATI you're score will be at least 500 points lower than it should, if you have dual video cards you're score will be almost halved. Taking shadows into account and the fact you can turn them off, I would say a 1500 score is really a 2000, which will have no problem with the game.

The game says it's minimum requirements for video cards is the 9600GT (My current video card lol) which is about the Radeon HD 3870. A guy I know runs a 8800 GTS which is a lower model and didn't have problems, except for shadows and that is like the... Radeon HD 3850 X2. These are the cards most people have, if you want to run the game at awesome level, just assume you'll need to buy a new video card.

My recommendation is the newest card coming out for NVidia- the GTX460, it's a high end video card in the less than 200$ range is and is made for people who want bang for their buck. It's also supposed to be smaller than the cards in it;s series(465, 470, and 480).
