I just don't super-jump when IC. Works out fine.

I am totally down with having a DRG LS. It would be awesome for Cedric to meet one of his own people and what not.

Interesting thread ^_^
Aya Foxheart is not "Ishgardian", she is an Ala Mhigan refugee whose family found refuge (shortly before the gates were sealed) with distant relatives who had settled in Ishgard generations beforehand as Sellswords. She was raised in the city and grew to loath it: a combination of the overbearing and restrictive nature of the religious environment, the pretentiousness of her parents (who have been unable to adjust to their new social status), and the general unwelcomeness she felt in the city outside of her own peer group. Escaping in the middle of the night she's happy to have left. I have really enjoyed the Hyur-Elezen discussion in this thread, and I suspect that as Highland Hyur, members of the Ala Mhigan warrior class, and very tenuous converts (skin deep just to be accepted into the city) her family were among the least welcome type! With regards to socializing with other Ishgardians, she is generally friendly, but probably less so toward Ishgardians, especially faithful, Elezen Ishgardians, than toward anyone else ![]() Still, she might reminisce about the city with an ex-patriot over some Gridanian mead! Also... my first RPC post! |

I'd have to eradicate a linkshell, but I'd be game for joining a Dragoon LS. Maybe one of these days I'll actually get around to putting up a wiki for Kiana, my dragoon. For now, though:
Kiana Highwind, my dragoon, hails from Ishgard. Originally born into a vassal family of House Haillenarte, it was by luck and honour that she was chosen to become a dragoon in service of her House. (( Note: knowledge of her House is purely OOC Knowledge.)) In the three years since she's left her home, she's made no attempt to hide where she is from. It is known that she lives around Fallgourd Float, and assists with training people with using the lance at times. I do play her as being roughly 1/4 elezen, which is most prominent in her face around her jaw, cheeks, almond-shaped eyes, and the slight point to her ears (in-game sprite is a hyur, though). Given the naming convention of the elezen, and that Coerthas seems populated by them mostly, I also try my best to showcase her accent, which would sound like native French speaker speaking in English. If any of you former Ishgardians (especially those with ties to House Haillenarte) want to set-up/work out how they may know my character, including her actual name (she hints that Kiana isn't her real name when introducing herself), please send me a message here! ![]() |

This Roegadyn seems to have ties to Ishgard. It sounds like his family has lived there, serving the Ishgardian nobles.Â

Yeah I just did that quest and noticed what that Roegadyn said and it made me wonder how many more might be in service in Ishgard.
What I was thinking for my Hyur lancer Byron to have him be of a vassal/retainer house in service to House Fortemps or House Haillenarte as both are the more likely to have dealings with adventurers. I also want him to have a certain prejudice against Elezen due to being passed over in favor of them, however I also want him to have some Elezen lineage that is unknown to him at first which would bring about coming to terms with himself and his preconceived notions. This percent would be either 1/6, 1/8, or 1/16 and displays itself in the form of his tall and slim figure and fine features. I would also like his Elezen blood to link him to something or someone in some meaningful way that isn't too out there. One though is that his grandfather was a dragoon and that many years ago he killed a dragon by jumping straight down its throat and piercing it's heart, however he fell with it down a gorge and the two were never seen again. Once Byron becomes accomplished enough he could go looking for his grandfather's last battle and reclaim his spear and armor which would allow for him to get his relic gear without needing the direct blessing of the Holy See. I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me. If this LS gets formed, and is open to any race/nationality then I'd -love- to join!
Kiht is no Ishgardian, but she may ICly know one. And she may get IC training in his skills soon ![]() Sorry if this was off-topic and self-centered, I just wanted to put myself out there as someone interested in the LS being discussed. |

I'd be so interested in helping you with that development, Kiht. It'd be a fun plotline, rife with conflict, considering that Vairemont wants nothing to do with Ishgard. He even gave up his lance.
But if someone could bribe/trick/beg him to help with a girl's training, he might have to take it out of storage. Assuming she somehow found out he was ever an Ishgardian Knight to begin with. You don't have to agree to this, just an offer. ^_^ You can tell the size of a man by the size of the thing that makes him angry.

Haha no worries.
You'll find a lot of ex-Ishgardians just because of the very nature of Ishgard. No patriot would be caught outside of Coerthas for extended periods, as their precious city-state is constantly under siege by dragons. It's very hard to justify an Ishgardian character who frequents places outside of Coerthas without making him a fugitive or deserter. I'd still be interested in getting myself entangled in some Ishgardian roleplay though. My character is now a merchant with a Lominsan trading company, and most of his day-to-day involves diplomacy and trade, when he's not drinking himself stupid at a tavern. Having a little something involving his past going on on the side would still be fun. And that offer's open to anyone. You can tell the size of a man by the size of the thing that makes him angry.

Kiana has no problem admitting that she hails from Ishgard. But she reveals nothing about her family or possible House affiliation.

Don't play an Ishgardian, but two (possibly three) members of Lansquenet are from Coerthas. The two Elezen who are- Drividot and Darwyn- are pretty open about it, at least in discussions with other members of the free company. The third individual has only hinted at it ICly- she's not Elezen or Hyur, so I believe that plays a part in why she doesn't particularly want to talk about her homeland.

I wouldn't say my character really cares if people know that is where she is from... but she was more raised outside of the city then in due to her parents work. Plus she tends to try to forget her past after some recent events with her family. Leaving on bad terms probably doesn't help her to opening up about her home. I think she's only told a select few who managed to get close enough to get it out of her. Others knew her from her past and figured out who she was.
On the same note of why she tends to shy from admitting that is her homeland... she is kind of raising a young drake ic'ly ^^; the thought of ever really returning home terrifies her knowing what the thoughts on such a creature is. Wiki:Â Lorraine Dunois
