Ahhhh now that is not fair at all. I know and was part of ArmachiA's FC for a long time and it is very unfair to paint a broad brush like this. I don't know how many or how often folks erp'ed because folks are usually discreet but the RP I experienced from folks around ArmachiA and herself has been very typical non-sex based RP. Fighting Garleans, looking for artifacts, etc. So it's really unfair to paint it as a "circle of people" around her. ><

It's fine to be against ERP. That's not an excuse to be a bit of a wanker over it though. I mean there's people out there in the role-playing community that I dislike but generally I just filter them out and if I do end up ignoring them I don't bring it up in public.

Duderino, you can blacklist whomever you want, but let's not slander members of the forum or start making up things just because your opinion is unpopular and you neither want to defend it logically or bow out gracefully.

Nobody is saying you have to ERP. Nobody is saying you have to talk to people who ERP. Nobody is saying yo have to talk to anybody, really, or continue to reply here.

Is it crass? Sure. Some people might think it's crass to run coil in a glamour'd-on bikini and boob-physics-tank Turn 9. It happens, though. If they break the rules and ERP in public, then report them. If they're not breaking rules, then you can either let it go try to shame them in public and probably look like a pushy, intolerant jerk.

And to be honest, I'd rather sit down on a bench and chat for a few minutes with a charming triple-futa wearing all leather than talk about how an entire group of people are bad based on what they do with their own subscription money and friends.

I think ERP has a time and a place. As with most that are on RPC and active who may or may not partake in it... I'm pretty sure most would rather never see it on a table in the quicksand... or the bench in quicksand.. or while walking randomly through the streets of a city.

Or past that one lighthouse in the La Noscea region that you can take a ferry to Wolves' Den.

And I'm sure that most here would keep it in /p. Though I think there might be the occasional mt into /say I don't think that's the norm. If it was the norm those are the people I avoid and blacklist because I am judgmental and have decided if that's how they RP, it's not what I'm interested in and I want no part of it.

You ERP in your free time in private? Go right ahead. It's not -quite- ERP, but there's a certain point where I don't like PDA to head into and... You're making out and groping each other in public? Sorry I'm not going to even acknowledge. It's not the omg they're sluts! But for the fact that it's just not the type of RP I want to engage in.

I think people in FoM know of where I messed up recently in relation to this topic. ((P.S. Yes, I do know that certain measures do not prevent pregnant Miqo'te ;p )) Cause yes, I have engaged. But as most people who have RP'd with me, that's not the basis of my RP. If anything it's like this one supplement to the relationships my character has had.

but yeah. Mistakes happen and most times if I ever do see it someone goes "((Fuck my life. MT. Shit))" Like this one time I walked into an FC house. Everyone in the bar went silent for a bit as this huge paragraph flew in and then laughed at the MTer's expense a little.

Honestly it's just as much of a small annoyance about getting upset over peoples' grammar, their spelling, the way they burst into RP scenes and their character demands all the attention or certain respect. That is, it's not much of an issue.

I've had good shares of my experience in RP and ERP for many years and yes I did ERP long time ago and it does not mean I will do it again or change my mind. I was later harassed by it through ICly and then OOCly so I closed myself and decided I won't change my opinions about how I feel in that subject. Again, I'll say it again. If you do it privately is your own chat and it does not concern me. Also I am a bit extremely grumpy because the first thing I've checked this forum after I woke up was the notification with Arma quoting me in bold saying I am ignorant and quick to my judgement and others saying I probably never read romantic novels or watched any scenes. As a matter of fact, what I do in my real life is my business unless I mention it in game. And don't judge me thinking I never had and experience with this before because I did, and it wasn't fun.

It won't change about my opinions, but I did say it like multiple times like in other thread too that if you do it in other private chat way for me not notice it, I don't see what's the problem. People seem to read other lines about what I say, but they seem to miss the main point about what I am trying to say. Is it like my English skill here?

I've been roleplaying since I was 12, which means I've been at this for....15 years. *winces* Man, I'm old. Now, that's not as long as a lot of other people I know, but from my experiences, the opening post sums up the varieties of sexual situations you'll find in RP. So my hats off to you for that, you've explained it perfectly.

I, personally, don't have an issue roleplaying a sex scene out should my character come into a situation where it happens. I've done it before, and I'll probably do it again, but I definitely agree on several points. It needs to be done tastefully, it's not suppose to be some cheap smut. It needs to be done privately, just like in real life, what you do between the bed sheets needs to stay there: in the bedroom (or the basement, or the kitchen counter, but not in public, you get the idea). It needs to happen naturally, this shouldn't be something that is done between two characters just to do it, it should be a natural evolution of their relationship. And most importantly, all parties need to be comfortable with it. If my partner rather fade to black, then your damn right that's what I'm going to do, because I value the comfort of my roleplaying partner above all else.

Maybe it's your English but your point is getting lost in the "I blacklist all ERPers." "You shouldn't do it at all." "I don't want to know your ERP circle." which comes off as exceedingly judgemental and I felt it was a bit unfair and harsh.

Ignorant in this context wasn't a negative thing and really just meant lack of knowledge, maybe I should have used naive?

And I said "If you don't believe..." not that you haven't read any fiction. I have in fact come across people who believe any sex, ANY SEX, in fiction means it's smut or porn. ANY. I'm friends with this person. We butt heads about it regularly. I was wondering what your position was because you are making very blanket statements about the narrative benefits of ERP.

(And for the sake of "the internet" this isn't an aggressive post, I'm being very neutral here.)

I think we all agree that itâ€™s common courtesy (and a bound agreement to ToS) to keep racy messages to private channels.

I completely agree with blacklisting players once that rule has been broken. Personally, I try to go the IC route if my character is in the space when it happens and do some â€œthe fuck do you think youâ€™re doing in the middle of this barâ€ RP. If itâ€™s ignored, a whisper is sent (super communication, a go!). If that doesnâ€™t get the person to shuffle off to tells/party/a house/room then the blacklist gets a new member.

I certainly agree with blacklisting a person that is trying push RP on you (of any sort: erp, fighting, etc) after having been asked to stop and itâ€™s been made clear that you are not interested in furthering things in that particular direction.

Itâ€™s my firm belief that itâ€™s your $15 a month, play how you like.

That philosophy works for many subjects- playing a pimp, playing a fighter, playing a barmaid, ERPing, combat RP, playing a non-lore/game compliant character (a sparkling vampire that hails from the foreign lands of Azeroth and fell into Eorzea through a massive vortex in the middle of a great sea).

However, understand that your choices have consequences (good or bad!). Just as itâ€™s your right to play how you wish, so is it your neighbors.

There will people who disagree and people (players and characters) that agree. Â

Embrace those that play with you and enjoy your story and style, understand that others may not and thatâ€™s okay. One hundred percent of people will not mesh one hundred percent of the time. Be disappointed, but understand itâ€™s their right to fill their own story and RP how they like. Ignoring a player or playing off another character as odd and refusing to engage in RP with them is within their rights if that player/character breaks their immersion or upsets their RP. Theyâ€™ll in turn find their own circle to play with. Perhaps one day your worlds will collide over something you can both agree with.

I am pretty well known for only surrounding myself with people who stay true to lore, since I'm really big on lore (honestly the number who don't is relatively small but that's another conversation) and talk about it a lot of these very forums, but honestly I don't see those people running around being vampires or whatever - they can go do that in their own corner, they don't really bother me. Hell, we may even talk oocly, I'm generally pretty open to meeting new people. I just don't want to be apart of lore breaking.

I don't expect people to want to ERP (Gross, why would I?) it's a personal choice. I just don't want to see people judged, good people, Good RPers, judged because they do it within the context of the narrative. Rping sex is like rping torture or murder, like anything else if your uncomfortable - don't do it. But understand some people may. And that's okay. Generally.
