As for my Choco... i finally took the plunge to get him to Soot Black! I was Storm Blue for the longest of times!

I've been bouncing back and forth in my mind between Honey Yellow (closest to golden chocobo possible because HERO) or Dalamud Red so Avenger moves three times as fast. That's how it works, right?

Thanks for the answer, I was worried that if I bought them they'd just end up disappearing a few hours/days/weeks later because they were "consumed".
