All,

I've had to remove some additional text from this thread that wasn't constructive. (I realize this is heavier moderation than I normally do, but damn it, this is Christmas Eve, and we deserve a nice thread. Sad ) Please stick to the topic at hand and assume good faith from your fellow members.

I think the most interesting part of this dynamic is how prevalent it seems to be. My character is extremely conservative and lacking in self esteem. Both of these qualities make her a terrible candidate for a polyamorous relationship, but they appear to be the only type she comes across other than the occasional 'nunh who will do anyone, any time.'

It's become a long-term goal of hers to meet someone who is okay with a vanilla relationship despite initially not giving a damn about romance. So far it's not optimistic, as everyone seems to like her, but want her as an auxiliary to another lover.

The seeming prevalence of minority-type characters may have something to do with how roleplayers are a minority in and of themselves, and frequently we belong to minority groups in real life. I can understand why it might be frustrating, though. xD

Polyamory is somewhat common in the rp community but it's like SUPER common in FFXIV (I'm guessing because of how many players play Miqote and the Miqote backstory in general). Armi was even in a polyamorous relationship for a very short while (Though she had no idea that's what it was, she just did what her Miqote partner was comfortable with) but currently she is in a very happy monogamous relationship with a Hyur and was in a monogamous relationship with a Miqote for a few months before that. It exists!

Causation's a hard thing to come by when making broad statements about RP communities.

It really isn't... ? Society treats us poorly, thus our roleplay becomes an escape where these things no longer apply inside the circle.

If anything, it should be obvious.

I chalked it up to it being Ul'dah, where for the right price you can have as many men, women, chocobos, lalafells and sapient vegetables money can buy. A post calamity society probably cares less about stringent relationship practices as well. Life is cheap!

But its a relief to hear it does exist!

Not talking about video game players. I spoke of LGBT, and other romantic and gender minorities.

Then you are a strange person, but... more power to you, I suppose. xD
