It's true that the boys ain't got no booty though. Have to be fairly crafty to get one (subligars work quite well for both booty and bulge purposes, depending on the subligar - Star-Spangled Subligar handle both quite nicely, which is the reason I've got it glamoured as a Monk).

<- has no problem with more females who rp then males.

I was coincidentally talking to my friend about this the other day and he said it's probably because a lot of guys don't role play outside the bedroom because it makes them feel stupid.

Not only did I immediately stop the conversation before it went in the gutter, but I also kinda can see his point. I myself thought role play was for women until I decided to try it.

Now I have no regrets. Well my friend calls me a chick jokingly now but that's because I don't wanna endgame with him all day anymore.

I think your friend has an ignorant way of looking at things. I've been RPing for 15 years now (okay, 14 years and like 8 months), and it has been 99.8% combat or military-based and .2% smut. I've never considered non-eRP to be the realm of women. That's just...

Its not the plot of the rp he has a problem with, but how can i put this. . You know what ima just quote what he said to me. WHAT I AM POSTING IS NOT MY TAKE JUST A HEADS UP.

"My problem with rpers Aaron, is they think all their ideas are original and they get mad over the slightest crap. What do you mean i cant be a badass female character and not look gay? DO YOU KNOW WHO MY FATHER IS!? Or they think just because they got some epic character in their imagination they can go around acting tough. Real men are confident playing as male characters. Only ones who play females are gender confused."

and im like. . . Dude. . . You played Tomb Raider which the character is a female. . . And idek wtf all that extra stuff came from. . ."

And ima be honest. . . If I play females it's only so I can admire their bodies while I play.

Haven't on final fantasy because the women have no bodies, but I know I cant be the only one that's done this?

I usually play female characters in MMO's since armor tends to look better on them.  But FINALLY I find one where the males look just as good as the females.
I play strictly male characters.  Sadly I've yet to find any RP for my character.  With all the rumors I heard about people avoiding Miqo'te RPers I didn't think nothing of it.  I'm starting to believe it now, people avoid me like the plague for some reason ._.

But yeah, I've noticed alot of female characters as well.  Honestly doesn't bother me.  I just view the majority as dudes playing female characters.  Doesn't matter to me who is behind the character.

I don't think it's miqo'te who get avoided as much. When I sit around on Chao I get a lot of hits. Granted, that's not a proper sample because she's the only one I sit around on as much. I can sympathize with the feeling of being avoided, though.

Understood and thanks for clarifying.  I just don't fully understand how things work here yet.  Maybe I just need to give up on trying to RP and focus on something else.  I really don't know what to do to be honest concerning roleplay though.  Just seems like no matter what game I attempt it on it is always heavily cliquish and hard for newcomers to get in on.

Though that is just my observation only, it may not actually reflect what really goes on.  I may just be really unlucky is all.  Doesn't matter though, still love this game.

Now to find me an FC to join.  Just gotta figure out how to go about doing that.

Girl RPer here, proudly main-RPing male characters! (I have made female characters too but they were mostly friend's requests/alts for story connections with my mains)

And yeah, way way way too many girls around.

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.

"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." -- N.C.

Hey there, this is a bit off topic, but I would like to address it. Many people have had this same problem.

The thing about cliques is they are actually very natural. Characters are built on themes and concepts. For example, a Highlander Garlean spy would not suit my FC. That is not because that is a bad character concept, but because it does not fit my FC's theme.

Why do people form cliques? Because one person can only manage so many relationships, and we tend to desire stronger bonds with a smallish group of people; rather than try to bond with all of society. That is natural too.

So what can you do? I recommend deciding on what kind of clique or theme you are looking to explore with your character then posting a thread on the "Making Connections" section of this site. If you don't get any hits, it might seem discouraging, but then you just search for FCs or LSs in the Linkshell Hall to see what you might like to join. Leave a post on their profile thread, or send them a PM. You can also browse character wikis to see if there are characters you think might interact well with yours. Make a list and send them tells.

It's best not to think of this as a social exercise. I highly doubt people are avoiding you because they don't like you or your character. Finding RPers who are available and willing to random RP is actually like rolling the dice. Even in the Quicksand, people are unusually occupied with other people they met before you came along. The methods I mentioned are more like fishing. Rig some bait on a hook then offer it into the ocean that is the RP community.

Now for an on-topic contribution:

I find it funny there are so many female characters when it was just over a year ago that the RP character census (I think that is what is was) showed more males than females. Most of which were Hyur Midlanders too.

I have nothing to add about the gender topic that hasn't been said already, but there are indeed many Miqo'te. I like Miqo'te a lot, but I don't like the feeling that they are generic now. I am hoping the Au Ra will change that a bit.

Eh, people play what they like. I don't really have any negative feelings towards the number of women characters (or the number of miqo'te :p). So long as people are having fun with their characters, then it's all good.

FFXIV was the first time I actually made and roleplayed a male character, though. I had a male castanic alt in TERA, but he didn't really see any action - was just eye candy. xD

You right.  It's an asian game though, and asian girls have no ass so all of the females in this game have pancake butts.  I was also annoyed at how you can't make female Highlanders more muscular.  Their "max" muscle tone has like..tricep definition and THAT'S IT.  What gives?  Are women not allowed to be more muscular than some slight lines I Just- *breathes* ok that's a different topic..

ON this topic: I play female characters with blonde hair and blue eyes because I find them pretty..And I'm a girl irl with blonde hair and blue?(teal?) eyes >.>..Self-insert but w/e it's aesthetically what I like. Big Grin

I'm a short (5'1") female who plays a hulking muscular mass of man and I'm proud of it!

Woman playing a woman here. I play male characters here and there, briefly. But I just love the strong woman warrior archetype too much to seriously consider playing anything else.

Honestly? I still don't understand why this is even a discussion. People will play what they want to play, and very little will persuade or dissuade someone from playing a female if they want to play a female, or a male if they want to play a male. As there are no tangible benefits to playing a female toon, it is not any sort of problem, or even something to be noticed at all.

If anyone is butthurt about this, I apologize, but people will always play what makes them happy, and you can't force me to play more male or more female characters, no matter how the gender makeup of the server falls. I have no qualms about playing male characters-I have several-but for the record, encouraging people to play what they don't want to play for the sake of "Realism" is outright stupid, and never works.
