I remember reading (a translation of) The Grimoire of Marisa, in which the characters within are each given a sigil that represents their personalities/magical capabilities; examples from The Grimoire:

I designed it myself and it's been my signature for over a decade by now. My characters in PnP usually have this tatooed on their left shoulder blade. It's less about personality and more about being one of my creations, tho.
