Welcome to The Fated Inn
There might be some small oddities… but rest assured, it's just a regular inn, a perfectly common, cozy little place. Does it look bigger on the inside? Nonsense, it's not at all interesting, just a small house in the Goblet, or perhaps a colorful, decorated door in the streets of Ul'dah; a small cellar in Limsa, built so low that you can dip your feet in the sea during the high tide. It's a door leading to the hollowed tree in Gridania and a warm entrance in the frozen Ishgardian alleyways. It's all of these places or none, as I said, perfectly regular. What is important? All those doors lead to the same place, the Fated Inn, wherever it may be.
Most visitors don't seem to notice anything odd; normal people coming to stay at a normal inn, visiting a perfectly normal bar, meeting more or less normal staff and then leaving to return home. For those that can see the world a little bit deeper, that hear a little bit better and think about it all just a little bit more, it’s a mystery, an enigma.
There’s that one guest that arrives dressed in the finest Ul'dahn silks. The next? Furs, snow melting on their shoulders. It’s strange how most of the visitors don’t seems to notice or even care; with all of the other oddities, this seems be an integral part of the place.
Then there are the windows; visitors who enter from the Goblet can see the searing sun, stone houses and red rocks outside. Those who come from Limsa are greeted with a view of the sea and white coast. Few might catch a glimpse of an entirely unfitting landscape, one that changes throughout the day… sometimes it's a beautiful sunrise over the sea and rocky fjords, sometimes the deep woods, fauna picking at the berries just outside of the house; a gentle rain tapping on the glass, distorting the evening panorama of lush green hills. When asked, the patrons, the staff share little more than a reassuring smile and a shrug of the shoulders. Still, it's not hard to catch one of them gazing out of the window absent-mindedly, daydreaming to breathtaking scenery very few could ever see.
Those who notice, who care, begin to learn more about the strange inn; the calming atmosphere, visitors that seem that seem to leave feeling just a little bit better. How every metal object when dropped, always seem to roll exactly to that one spot. The fireplace warm, but never too hot. How broad and diverse the sounds one can hear when that front door opens, from the howling of wind to the bustle of busy streets. The local staff odd, yet somehow, what feels weird, feels normal at the Fated Inn and once that realization is made? They somehow become a part of it. Some might join the staff. Others? Regular patrons, but almost all leave with one shared secret, grinning nonchalant at all the newcomers making their first steps through the front door.
After all, it's just a normal, run of the mill inn. For most, the Fated Inn is a brief, cozy, serene, memorable stop on their way, but still, just an inn...
Those who might feel they’ve come to an end on their path and now have nowhere to go, no one to turn to? The Fated Inn might become their last stop, the doors always open for the tired and road-worn, the pursued, hunted, troubled, lonely and lost. Wherever those doors are, they wander into the Fated Inn, exactly where it needed to be. It’s a safe haven, welcome yet distant; a shelter where the prices are always fair and work for those who seek refuge but without a coin to pay for a night’s stay.
Most important, however, are the staff, a colorful bunch no doubt, kind of odd one might say. One can hardly imagine why these people would choose to work here, but despite their reasons, they do their best, always welcoming despite whatever quirks they may have, comforting guidance a chat away.
And so the inn that tries so hard to appear perfectly normal, is really the place that spins and weaves the fates of those spending the night, but how and why is in the realm of fables and fairytales; many shared by the patrons within, unfortunate and sometimes downright comical happenings to those who came to cause trouble or with the intention to use the house for their own malicious purpose. Some claim the house has always been here, which is everywhere and nowhere but always where it needed to be, not where it should be. It could be magic, a living entity or forgotten technological wonder, or perhaps the work of the gods.
Either way, the mystery and Fated Inn remains, here, there, everywhere. Quiet and calm, full of odd people and stories, but otherwise perfectly normal!
OOC Information
The Fated Inn is a player run establishment primarily open during EU evening hours, though if there is enough interest we will keep open during early US evenings, as well. Purpose of this topic is both to inform people about the backstory and purpose of the inn and community surrounding it.
If you're interested in the concept let me know ingame for invite to our LS (just remember the be nice policy) we focus mostly on friendly small scale RP and individual characters. If you are looking for RP and are shy or afraid of big events and strangers or just look for good character driven RP this could be a place for you.
If you'll enjoy RP with us remember you don't have to join the FC to become staff member either, currently the FC is there only for the house and the community is LS based, we have people from many different FC's involved so don't worry if you already have FC you want to stick with and are just looking for some extra RP. Aside our own LS we also occasionally do shout outs when the inn is open for public in the Hugs and Cakes LS.
Our aim is to offer a cozy place where anyone can stop by to discover roleplay; rather you’re looking for some lighthearted tavern RP or potentially progressive plotting, we hope to offer it. The house is there to help and meddle and so are we, a supportive home to draw characters in and make them feel both involved and welcome -- at the permission of the player, of course.
Our only OOC player rule is be excellent to each other. While conflict may exist between characters from time to time, we feel it can be safely resolved IC. Troublemakers, however, will be dealt with by the house as seen fit, swift and just(and often quite hilariously!)
If you're looking for some RP and connections visit the Fated Inn!
