My chocobo's name is Mandoralen, which was the max number of characters allowed. I remember cause the name is supposed to have two Ls, but I had to drop one : P. This could, of course, change in 2.0. I don't recall if spaces were allowed in 1.0 or not.

Thanks! I didn't know you could name them in 1.0, although I don't think I was playing when chocobos were available, either. After I mess around with dungeons this weekend, I'll definitely be questing up to the point you get your chocobo companion so I can see what can be done with it.

I MIGHT name my Chocobo.... Chocolate Soda! ^^ Cause, that name's cute and awesome. Hehe or maybe a normal name like Takashi or Mamoru, maybe Black Lightning or Sunshine.

Rhio's chocobo is still named Saladin and is alive and well. Why she named him that exactly I'm not sure - the cultural reference doesn't make much sense in Eorzea - but she did.

Is there a wrong/lorebreaking answer? I'm trying to choose between a name for one of my old alts like Agrimony or Glitra, or something overly girly such as Cupcake or Lulu. Because I'd loveÂ to see a chocobo named Lulu decked out in crazy armor pecking and clawing things to death.

I'm going to name mine Cuddles. He's going to be my war chocobo of death that loves getting pedicures. When he's not stomping peoples faces, he's getting those beautiful nails painted "passion red" because he's a diva and plays no games. Yes, cuddles is -fierce-. Kidding. Â

Maybe I'll name him Diva. A temperamental chocobo that rarely listens to Seohyun.

Don't remember getting to name mine in 1.0 so with that said I'm probably going to go with Kai. It's a name I've taken a liking to and have used for pets in a few other games. I also like how Azthran and Kai sound when said together like that, then once we can get the job bardings deck him out in dragoon stuff. Big Grin

I hadn't honestly given this much thought until now. Â Altho I'd love to come up with something pithy, relevant or even inspiring as far as names go. Â I'll likely name mine Wump or something otherwise undignified and inglorious as it seems I always tend to when it comes to naming pets in games like this.

It's not that I don't like my pet, it's just that I've been a dog owner to some very stupid dogs with, well stupid names. Â My fondness for their lack of intellect forces me to recall them in instances of pet nameing in games.

Be glad I don't name it Kay F Cee...

I haven't 100% hammered down the personalities of my characters just yet, since my 1.0 ones are going through sweeping revisions, so the chocobo name will be based entirely on their personality.

Kannadi has an underlying "mirror" theme to her character, so I named her chocoboÂ Alcibiades.

On Earth, Alcibiades was a strategically-minded general famous for defecting from Athens to Sparta, and then from Sparta to the Persian Empire, and then from the Persian EmpireÂ back to Athens, having been a valuable military asset to all three competing powers.

In Eorzea, it seemed like a suitably pompous grown-up name for a little girl to give to her plush dodo and later carry over to her chocobo.

I suppose that one could hand-wave the name onto a dead Scholar from ancient Nym -- the sort of name known only to highly literate people, which Kannadi would have read in one of those child-friendly books about ancient historical figures.

No not the space hamster. Please don't mention Mass Effect, Still upset about the mess they made of MS3. No I was referring to the original hamster from Baldur's Gate. "Go for the eyes Boo!!! Go for the eyes!!!
Oops I forgot that Minsc referred to Boo as a Space Hamster. Sorry if I got it wrong.
