What hurts the worst is that the events of Kingsglaive were supposed to be playable, but that got scrapped and turned into a movie instead. Th-thanks, Square Enix...

At least it was very, very pretty.

Nyx was completely unlikeable as a character for me (though he had a REALLY nice ass holy shit. And he was cute, I guess), and the story was so eye-rolly and SNOEFLAEK SPESHUL. However, it was really really really pretty, and I more or less watched it for that.

That and Lena Headey's voice. Mmmm.

Nyx deserved so much better and while I'm watching this I'm thinking:

"Noctis is off somewhere right now picking peas off the ground or staring at Cindy's ass while this guy is getting fucked."

And God, the way they utterly disenfranchised and gutted Luna of any strength whatsoever made me wanna yak.

It's like people don't freaking understand that you can write a female with those qualities and not have her be completely bereft of any ability to fight on any standing or in any form whatsoever. For shits sake, let her throw potions around or something at least if you're going to bankrupt the character of any strength, abilities or powers.Â

You can tell me it's narrative based but I'll laugh at you. It actually made me hate the game more.

God this movie sucked.

I was falling asleep during the last fight scene. I just wasn't interested. The visuals were there, the choreography was there...two dudes knife fighting on top of giant statues fighting a huge demon? Well that sounds awesome!

The worst part is that the movie wasn't even bad, because even bad movies can be completely entertaining. It was just mediocre and completely failed to engage.

I couldn't even finish it. None of the character aside from the king looked anything like they did in the game. If you going to go that photorealistic then why not just do a live action movie? Kingsglaive was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and not in a so-bad-its-good sort of way.

I enjoyed certain aspects of the movie. It looked incredible and a lot of the action scenes were pretty cool. It's a shame that certain characters were screwed over in terms of the amount of focus that they received. After I'd watched it, I figured all the plot holes and loose threads would be explored further in FFXV.

They weren't. It's such a shame, too - since a lot of the story stuff and characters had the potential to be really engaging. Yet so little is done with it all. The game and movie weren't without redeeming qualities but they could and should have been so much more.

Oh well. XII remains my favourite Final Fantasy and so I am looking forward to the Remaster in a couple of months!

The worst part was that Kingsglaive has almost all of the plot for the first half of FF15 in it.

Add that on top of 15's terrible, terrible narrative and it turns the whole thing into a blatant cash grab. 15 and all it's BS has ruined main line FF for me. It's going to take a quite a lot for me to even bother with 7R or 16 whenever they decide to make it.Â

I actually had an incredibly positive experience playing FF15. Due to how underwhelming the game was even relative to my low, non-hyped post-FF13 expectations, I was motivated to finally pick up Witcher 3 and give that a go, and it was a damned fine game, so I call that a thumbs up for FF15. Sort of. Ish.
