Can't answer cause I legit have multiple RP/Gameplay "mains". But I do notice that Businessman/woman is missing.

And to clarify, you mean profession as in "main source of income" right?

Merchant/Supplier is a big one that isn't on the list.

I chose "Other" since we're a group of pirates and don't really work for anyone other than ourselves.

May want a Criminal/Badguy entrepreneur type up there. Thumbsup

Whatever your char just "does" every day xD. And I know I missed that one ~.~ I would've put that with waiter/waitress/establishment owner, but I'd say something along the lines of business would be around there too.

I think that counts as the general adventurer, I didn't really specify it had to be of good/bad/etc intent really lol.

Ideally the main point here was just to get an idea of the types of characters that exist and their general area of where they hang out. So typically pirates/mercenaries or anything that could be seen as someone who goes out into the world fighting for something I wanted to try and group together. Was mostly feeling out the variety a bit, I'm actually quite happily pleased so far to see the amount of scholarly types is actually more decent than I first expected. I either shouldn't lumped some others together better or just made a more basic poll asking whether you adventure or you tend to stay in city states or something to that degree lol.... But I rushed this poll cuz it bugged out on me so XD

Pretty much <3 more specifics are nice too though as I can figure there's a lot of roleplayers in ul'dah being Balmung's current main hub for it lol.

Aronaux Farendaire, who's my main until I level up my alt for Stormblood, is a viscount, knight of House Fortemps, and member of the House of Lords, so I figured that he fits best into the Royalty category. Â Of course, I usually have him in Ishgard proper, specifically the Pillars, due to his status in the House of Lords, but whenever I want to take him outside I bring him to Camp Dragonhead on official business for his liege, House Fortemps. Â Other than that, he goes on vacation from time to time in the southern city-states, and as a history aficionado tends to visit ancient ruins like Nym and Amdapor quite a bit. Â His academic interests definitely don't outweigh his emphasis on nobility, governance, and knighthood, though.

Judielle Farendaire, his sister and the character I'm hoping to main in Stormblood if I get her there in time, is a more complicated case; if I answered the poll for her I would have chosen adventurer. Â She fulfills many of the responsibilities of a low hierarchy Ishgardian priestess, but an unquenchable wanderlust and unwillingness to take a vow of chastity keep her from ordination despite otherwise having studied in the Scholasticate everything she's required to have learned. Â When in Ishgard, she spends most of her time attending to the needs of the poor in the Brume and elsewhere, working side-by-side with missionaries and clergymen there, but she has a heart of an do-good adventurer and has done many things that would get her into trouble in the eyes of her peers and the Inquisition if they were ever revealed. Â Unlike Aronaux, who's more interested in maintaining the public order than anything else, Judielle's profoundly motivated by a dream to make the world a better place, which will ultimately bring her to Gyr Abania and Othard before she settles down, either finally as a priestess or as a wife and mother. Â Since she's primarily an adventurer, I'm more free to have her go wherever she pleases, but for now Coerthas and her free company's home of Limsa Lominsa remain her usual haunts; after Stormblood, I plan to relocate her mainly to Kugane, but we'll see if it might make more sense for her to be in Rhalgr's Reach.

Bodyguard/bouncer/odd jobs. Winter avoids jobs where she'd have to kill someone, but she seeks out jobs where being muscular and present helps keep people safe.

She'll also hire herself out as a mover - help people carry and move big crates of supplies.

I have two mains, tbh. I literally play them as equally as possible (play one for a day, play the next one the next day,etc). Both are scholars of their own particular fields.

Celica is my mage-type character who's particular field of study is ancient civilizations, particular the Allag. She's currently searching for pre-Allag ruins. She is from Old Sharlayan and her research is funded from there.

A'yana is also a scholar, but being a pugilist (and eventually a Samurai) she studies aether manipulation through martial applications (melee combat). She studies this for her own edification and is not sponsored or funded by external sources. She makes her funding through adventuring work which also simultaneously gives her more opportunities to study and experiment.

Both are published authors, though only Celica is published through a peer reviewed academic journal in Old Sharlayan. A'yana is largely self-published, though her manuals are gaining popularity among martial artists as a sort of beginner's guide.

I think there's too many professions out there to take a decent census with, unfortunately. I was surprised to not see military/police entities on the list?

Same. Extension of that: private security. Not all guards are for royal personages. I'll also second the notable lack of "merchant" or any such generic umbrella terms, probably owing to too much of a focus of the poll on in-game classes.

I think I just need to put on the first post "sorry this got rushed cuz this thread got posted before the poll was supposed to >~>;"

If anything I should've added it to waiter/establishment owner/ etc..... As for guard, same case, should've added it to the royal one. Again this was rushed cuz it shouldn't have posted so soon while I was making the poll ~.~ It's besides the point anyways, no one's mentioning where their chars typically hang around anyways... I think people from other servers have been voting on this too lol.
