Caelia's not very bulletproof.  I've had her get seriously injured in a Grindstone tournament before by having her leg shattered (Yay for healers!).  Her "bulletproofness" rating is based solely on her ability to dodge, so I have it where if she takes a hit, then she takes a hit.

That being said, her endurance is such that she can take a few (probably about four or five moderate smacks or one super hard/well-aimed hit) before she gets completely knocked out.  I try to play her as realistic to her lifestyle as possible.  Considering that she's been trained to fight, but isn't an actual fighter, I can't imagine that she's difficult to take down.

Hmmm... Geek

Guess I'll just have to get shot to find out!

But there's so many variables we need to consider when it comes to this. Magical Enchanted armor, what kind of caliber the weapon used to fire with is, if that weapon itself is magical enchanted, let's say the magitek gunblades just how powerful is a shot from one of those.

Or to put it differently:
There's a difference in using an old War rifle like American Civil War or Swedish Dragoons vs the latest Anti-Tank Sniper Rifle.
And I feel that FFXIV's weaponry end up somewhere in the middle, but more closely to the former as opposed to the latter.

Or again to put that differently: A bullet will always hurt.
It's just a matter of where it hits and how long you live after getting shot.
But in fantasy, it's best to take it all with a grain of salt, unless you plan on rerolling.

Leih is... not bulletproof whatsoever. If she's shot, and there's no medical attention, I'll get a fantasia. But that's me and how I play injuries. I don't believe in using skin proof. For me there has to be armor and/or some sort of shielding.

I don't hold others to this, tho. So long its fair (no Superman's endurance), I'm willing to work with people and whatever 'bulletproof' they have or want to have.

My assumption is that the average successful adventurer has a decent quality set of gear and is probably materia-infused, which seems to help a lot with durability and resistance to damage.

So, if my character was armed and armoured, I'd probably have his gear deflect or blunt the damage from the first few attacks, then have a few minor flesh wounds, then move to serious wounds. I probably wouldn't have one sword swing or one gunshot take him out, it would take a few.

On the other hand, if he was walking around town in casual raiment or dress clothes, one attack would probably jump straight to serious wound. Maybe not crippling, if I thought I could justify keeping him mobile and trying to get away or counter, but that would depend on the situation and whether or not it was a surprise attack.

I guess my overall view on damage IRP would be more "action/anime-style", where you might take a lot of damage but whether you can keep going or not depends more on your will-power than your physical health. If pressed about that, I'd probably say something about aether, but it's just more interesting/fun than going full realism where one punch to the face will probably knock you out of the fight, or one kick to the leg cripples you for a month.

“My good blade carves the casques of men, my tough lance thrusteth sure.
My strength is as the strength of ten, because my heart is pure.”

High level adventurer bulletproof, but I prefer to handle combat in the Wolves' den if people agree to it.

I have a column/blog written from an IC perspective, be warned, it's probably a little bit too vulgar for RPC - https://graff-lacroix.tumblr.com/
