The game is asking me for a pre-order code...
I never got one.
Thought I didn't need one.
I'm Lagacy, registered in september 2010 with collector's edition and cancelled dec. 31 2011... That's easily 3 months. My 1.0 characters got their cool tattoos too.
So...
Why am I not able to access the game now?

To be fair you really are not missing much mate! As the servers are all screwed up anyway. Don't despair though as SE is on the case,and Working their asses off to help us get back in the game. Though i do hope you can sort out the code so you can at least get all your bonuses!

Did you ever receive a confirmation email confirming your legacy status and the email about your name being featured in the credits?

I see you wrote that your account was canceled December 31, 2011. Final Fantasy XIV did not start charging players until January of 2012. To qualify for Legacy status three cumulative months of paid game time was necessary.

They started charging for a few months before firing people and going F2P temporarily. I had pre-ordered Collector's so I was there from beta onward and so I did pay for some time before the free period.

I believe Legacy status was only available if you paid for three months afterÂ the F2P period. It was the reward for people supporting them after they began charging for the game once again.Â

So I don't think you're actually classed as Legacy, I'm afraid. Sad

Every 1.0 character gets the tattoo, though! So that's why you have that.

Either way. I believe Asyria is correct - It's 3 months of paid time before X date.

the issue with that is that they only charged for one, two months max before it went F2P.

I was there as well, from beta untill December - I canceled my account when I heard they would start charging again, because I wasn't interested in playing a (what I considered) still broken game, and thusly I got no legacy either.Â

Tattoos are just for 1.0 players in general.

I found this from the Square Enix Support site.

So unfortunately if you paid before January 2012 I don't think they counted towards Legacy status. Sad

Fingers crossed everything goes super smooth from Tuesday though, so you can get in without issue and get everything to work right away! Smile

Yeah, but that doesn't count as Legacy...Legacy is the people who paid after they went from F2P back to P2P for the reduced price. That was after the first guy got fired and Yoshi-P took over.

I don't think you are Legacy....

Edit: Ah, never mind. Someone already cleared this up with you.

At least no one can take my CE from me. :O

I'm in the exact same boat. Got my CE, and I'll cuddle with it in the corner.

Though, I have EA.. I went and preordered the digital CE for 2.0, too. Though.. I'm not at all sure -why-, because I coulda gotten the EA for a lot cheaper than buying the digital CE from Amazon, like I did.

Ah well. I've spent more money on worse things.

Don't 1.0 CE owner get the 2.0 CE bonuses automatically though? Well, the digital ones, anyway.
