The thing is that they aren't allowing character restrictions to be lifted. Gilgamesh has been locked since ten minutes after the early access release. Kicking afk players won't be helping with that in the least. It is the fact the server has reached it's population limit of online AND offline characters.
What it does help with this error ![]() Long story short; it's solve the 1017, but not the character restrictions. ![]() Chika Ito ---- Carter Perish ---- Cora DuBois ---- T'rahz Vashka |

We may be getting upgrades early next week, but I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll fix a whole lot. ![]() "Song dogs barking at the break of dawn, lightning pushes the edges of a thunderstorm; and these streets, quiet as a sleeping army, send their battered dreams to heaven." Â The servers are manually locked, but they said that it was in an effort to keep yet more people from trying to play on them when they're already slammed. Â Initially after Beta 4/Early Access started, they would lock some servers, then unlock them later when the population pressure eased. Â That's how I was able to make Liadan the Saturday morning after Beta 4 started. Â I know people who were able to make characters on both Balmung and Gilgamesh during the wee hours of the morning during Early Access, but at some point they must have felt that they simply couldn't allow that because of the great pressure on those servers from logins. The thing is, character data doesn't take up space on the server itself, nor is it preventing you from logging in. Â You could have 1 character made on a server, or 100k and it wouldn't make a huge amount of difference. Â Even on the highest population servers in WoW, the currently online population is like, 1/8th (if that) of the actual number of characters that exist on that server. Â So there's nothing to suggest that Square won't actually open up character creation once the servers are upgraded and stabilized. |

Honestly, I am sad to see how many people from the RPC that are contributing to it. I logged in and in my linkshell.. Half of them were still online at 6:00 in the morning my time. Only 2-3 were actually talking. I wouldn't go as far as to call them out, but I think it is kind've rude for the other players.
Currently I can't get on because it is the second time after being kicked out today. It's 2:30 almost east-coast and that means it is around noon pacific. Basically, I don't see myself getting online any time soon, if at all, today. Considering it is saturday, I don't see myself getting on at all. Personally I think Square should have immediately hot fixed a 30 minute cap on inactivity, after which you are booted. They EASILY could have hot fixed that in and it would have SIGNIFICANTLY helped with the congestion. I work 50 hour weeks and after that it is an understatement to say that I look forward to relaxing on the game that has my interest. Atm I don't really like anything but ARR, so this is pretty brutal. I might be a bit unreasonable, but I think Square had adequate time to address the issue based off of the amount of people registering for Phase 4/early access. They kind've had for-warning with how many people were flocking to this game. Felix Sideris

So if there was an AFK timer...
What would prevent me from weighing down a movement key, or even making a keyboard macro so that my character would run around in circles without any input from me? I could just hook up a controller and tie up an analogue stick so it's shifted in one direction, and even use a turbo button feature to spam button whatever. To be totally honest I think SE are right in that an AFK timer is a placebo solution. I much prefer them focus on upgrading the software and hardware of their servers than hastily implementing an AFK timer that would solve nothing. If people want to AFK and stay in the game, they find a way. The issue is that SE didn't provide adequate servers for the player demand. Hopefully next week that will be fixed somewhat, but until then we're all in the same position. There's no need to start putting blame on people who are equally affected by SE's mistake, it just leads to a witch hunt and in community fighting and the best part? None of this will matter when SE has fixed the server overload, because it will be fixed, just like every other game that had an appalling launch due to server issues. |

Guilty as charged. Though the few times I have logged out, I've been getting back on with little resistance early in the morning. You can also use a simple script to spam 'num-0' and leave it going until you're in, all while getting on with your day. I was able to log in during peak hours within about 25 minutes of the script running.
Hope that helps, I can provide script info you need. |

First of all this post is directed at nobody in this thread or nobody in particular. If you are the type to read something on the internet and take it personally, please look away now.
Given that I've been kicked twice from the game due to the Runtime Error bug, and twice had been stuck outside the game with a script running for 2 hours, and am now currently still trying to get back into the game after another hour of running the script...Well the AFKers can just go screw themselves. To be honest it's probably why a bunch of them are AFK anyway ![]() But it's impossible to get on ANY server, NA/EU or JP after 2000 GMT, and if you are someone that actually is employed and doesn't have mummy and daddy paying the electricity bills, then it also makes logging in to enjoy the game at any point impossible. Honestly SE are only upgrading the servers because the JP servers were brought down too. Right now it's telling me that it can't find the EU/NA server list and the JP servers are locked down for new characters. |

I'm getting the same thing Rahal. It won't even load up my characters so I can try to play on a different server as it is telling me that World is full..before I even pick a world. I wonder if that means all worlds are full lol. I really didn't think I would be able to log in today anyway. I tried at 10am pst (which is usually when I can log in with very little problems, most of the time not even seeing a queue), but it was already giving me troubles then. Luckily I designated today as do all your homework day so it doesn't bother me much.Â
I honestly think that if you can get into a JP server and create a character, go for it. When they add new servers, I have a strong hunch that they will allow a temporary free character transfer route as to spread the community around to these newer servers and help alleviate the ones we currently have. So if you level up a bit on a JP server, you will likely get the chance in a few days to transfer that over to one of the RP servers ^^. This RP player base is so small in the scheme of things that if every single 'AFKer' from it stopped leaving themselves logged in, you wouldn't notice the difference. Really, this thread is little more than an excuse for people to take their frustrations out on other members of the community.Â
It's kind of like a traffic jam. Most of the people are sitting around, ornery and waiting to move. A couple people drive by along the shoulder and it just pisses everyone else off some more. It really doesn't effect much, but people are still going to rage. |
