This description of Roleplay is Ideal for me, I have the same interests, anyone replying to this thread, who is on Balmung, feel free to add me to friends list, I am a Legacy Player and back in the early days I was with a group that had tons of adventuresÂ that really added to the environment of the game. I'm always flexible to roleplay styles and always interested in plots and scenarios that others cook up!

I'm very pleased to see that there's a lot of role-players willing to get involved in this project. To make it easier for us all to keep in touch I've created a linkshell aptly named 'Wanderer's Retreat'. I would like to partake in some of this gritty, serious RP--because I feel that that is just what I need to regain my writing ability. The concept would fit me well as a player, but I'm not sure my character would mesh well (or if it takes too many liberties for the leader's liking). Too often I find myself having to write more informally, and I mentally chastise myself for not living up to my own standard. I'm tired of feeling vaguely stilted as a writer and/or roleplayer and might consider trying the group if approved to.

I'm all for gritty, mature experiences and I think something like this could really help me back into the flow of RP.

So saying that I'd like to possibly join you guys on odd occasions, both IC because of the nature of Logan's activities and OOC because I enjoy other aspects of the game.

You know, I've been following this thread for a few days, thinking about how much fun it sounds like and somewhat lamenting the fact that Janna is tied up elsewhere (not that I dislike all her RP- far from it!- but that this sounds like so much fun but there's not much room in her goings-on at the moment :/ ). But that said- how would you guys feel about an 'alt' coming along? I've been going back and forth over a second character to play, someone beside Janna I can play when I need a break, or feel like doing something different, so on and so forth. I've got something of a nebulous idea forming in my brain at the moment, but haven't committed to hashing it out yet. So lemme know Smile

I'm fine with people just dropping in and out, be it on their main character or an alt since I want to ensure that there will always be room for fresh blood in order to...well, keep things fresh!Â

The linkshell is filling up nicely, so if you still need an invite to it feel free to poke me when I'm online and I'll toss one your way. Some people are still leveling, but RP is going to happen rather soon so we can make use of the momentum!

Hey I would love to get involved in this! I can imagine my main getting into these types of outdoor situations, and I also have an alt (who is level 1 though cos I just started him) who would definitely fit into the scenarios listed above. Both characters, in my opinion, fit the criteria you're searching for.

Im pretty sure ive seen you running around in game, so the next time I do, ill flip a tell your way.

While Inja may fall into the "Too cute/silly/dramatic" thing, I have no problem using an alt to get in on this kind of realistic and thought-provoking RP.

Well, I do have to admit that I have given my character a single gimmick, but it was more out of necessity than wanting to make a special snowflake. :T (Trust me, my character and I both would love it if I didn't have to use it.)
But!
It is mentioned within the lore (to a degree), and it does a marvelous job at being the catalyst for her decision to become an adventurer.

Tssk. Â I am very understanding when it comes to stuff like this, but I would prefer it if there was an IC reason for why someone has to leave for a bit.

I am a self-proclaimed method RPer, and the word "scene" scares me a bit. Â When an RP tends to feel too scheduled, Â I lose engagement fast. I want to experience what my character experiences, and vice versa. Â And this exchange in experiences is what fuels my character's reactions. Â So, if I experience the passage of time, I want my character to feel that too.
This makes it difficult for me to just press "pause" (well, a short pause to evade out wait out griefers, or to deal with some small RL BS is fine. Â But) if we're strolling along, hunting in the black shroud, and someone remembers they have to be at a party in 45 minutes, or someone gets involved in something big, and then has to go on a planned vacation in the middle of it, I very much do not want to have to stop time for that.

I am not much for the bar scene IRL, and I'm even less so ICly.
Although, ironically, my first bit of XIV RP was in a tavern, but booze and tales of her heroics (lol) was the last thing on her mind when she decided to enter it. :P

I've seen far too many RP communities get destroyed by having the population divided among small cliques. Â So, when creating my character, I made her so she couldn't dare rely on one group of people. Instead, she gets to experience all sorts of folk!
And while she does get to make friends, and go on adventures, she can never stay too long, and she could not ask for others to come with her.

Oooh, very cool! What you've described is what myself and my group of people look for in RP and general partnership within an MMO. You might want to check us out. And I realize not everyone might not be interested in joining a dedicated group (or has already), so we're totally up to just working together with whoever to get some really awesome RP done. So, feel free to drop us a line any time.

Aside from that, it's good to see this sort of stuff really sparking an interest. It'll be great to see more of the style of attitude within this community of RPers.
