My name? I suppose I should start with that. My name is Aedan Mathis, and I am searching for my brother. Not three moons ago, he disappeared, vanished without a trace. I need to find him because... I think he murdered our father. I pray to the twelve that it isn't true, but all the signs point thus. I have no leads, no clue as to his whereabouts... But one way or another, I *will* find him.

He all! So the above paragraph is a small peek into the story arc I have in mind for my character, Aedan. The reason I am posting this is because I would someone to play the role of the brother. Maybe you need a main character, but are having trouble deciding on a backstory, or perhaps you already have a main, and wouldn't mind having an alt to RP. Or maybe you just like the sound of the plot and the potential it offers, and would like to be a part of it. Either way, if you're interested, just hit reply and let me know, or send me a PM.

A bit about the role:
Nothing had been established about the character. There are only a few requirements. The first is that he is 18 a year younger than Aedan. The second is that he is a Hyur Midlander. His name is Nathaniel (Nate) Mathis, but it is within the realms of possibility that he could be using an Alias. The only other thing is that he cannot start in Limsa Lominsa, which makes marauder and arcanist off limits as a starting class. Everything else, his looks, his personality, the way he interacts with others, are all up to you, though some collaboration with me would be appreciated. Also, I would really appreciate it that if you *are* interested, you are willing to level him up, etc. This story will be over a process of several weeks if I get a positive response, so I'm not really looking for a quick, one-time RP, but something that will last much longer.

I also want to mention that if you want to RP Nate, you are by no means not allowed to RP with others, quite the opposite, I encourage it. Also, the reason for his disappearance has not been decided yet. Did he kill their father, if so, why? If not, then why did he leave. These are questions Aedan wants answered.

If any of the above interests you, *please* let me know. I would have so many ideas in my head for RP possibilities between the two, and I would love to be able have them come to fruition.

Just thought I might add that it would be really appreciated if I could get some feedback. Is this even a good idea? Does this story sound interesting at all?

I'm just adding on a few bits and pieces here and there, but it occurs to me that the description of the plot is pretty vague. The reason for that is because, while I have so many ideas on where to take this, I dont want a potential RPer to feel trapped by the story, which is why there isnt much detail, and more of a brief blurb of sorts. If you think that posting more info would help me find someone, please let me know and I shall add more of the backstory, the history, maybe a few possible directions the story could go in, etc. I'm also very much open to suggestions on how to proceed as well.

Hello there~!

I should start off by saying your plot idea doesn't sound bad at all. I did something -somewhat- similar and ended up finding a brother for my character.

Admittedly, if I recall correctly, I PMed the player (Duplicitous Rex) after reading his directory page. It just so happened he wanted to play a Hellsguard Roegadyn also, and he joined not long after I did, so we set things up. The vague background I had worked well with his character and I can at least say that Klarimel, Siobhain's brother, has had a rather large impact on how she perceives people.

I didn't have a great idea for a future plot, however, so there wasn't the concern about whether or not our future goals would work out, more our histories. I think it maaay have helped him to flesh out a bit of his background as well.

If anything, I'd say that the prior knowledge that the person playing your character's brother might be a murderer or at least is being considered one might make some people hesitant about the idea. Can't say for sure though. I know what we did worked out for us, but then, I was extremely fortuitous to find him before ARR launched and so that might have factored in some of his willingness to connect our histories.

I know of two Miqo'te who are also related so they might have suggestions on how they found siblings ICly as well.

I think the idea is good, and as you said, it's intentionally a bit vague, but it might help you out to start with trying to find a sibling and knowing how you want -your- character to be (predominant class, race, morals, personality, etc.) and save what you might like their plot to be until after you find someone who might be open to the idea.

It's just a suggestion.

I think it's a pretty interesting premise!

I would like to be able to offer, but I already have so many character concepts that it would probably be pretty irresponsible of me.

It may be interesting for people who would be willing to play your character's brother to see some of Aidan first? Maybe some test, non-canon RP with your character to have an idea what he's like and such? I find that the better I know a character, the more comfortable I am coming up with a full concept for a relative.

I also think three things would be relevant to know:

One is to know if you are open to him not actually having murdered their father. This would encompass a great deal more possible concepts than if he did do it.

The second is to know what their father is like (this would greatly affect whether or not a murder was justified, for instance). If he might've been abusive, or dealing in something shady, or terminally ill, or basically anything that could make killing him sound less... criminal.

The third would be less plot relevant: a picture of Aidan. Sure, you said the player can decide what his brother looks like, but brothers will rarely look completely different (unless they're half brothers, or adoptive brothers). So if they are full blooded brothers, it's more likely they'll share traits, like skin color, or eye color, or hair color, or all of them. Height may also be similar.

Do take my advice with a grain of salt, though. I like planning and I like making sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to playing relatives and joint plots. Characters don't need to know the same things, but OOC I think the players should have the same amount of information about the family background, to avoid unpleasant surprises (e.g. the other player building their concept around the idea that the father was a terrible man and nothing like you, ooc, imagined.)
