I think a lot of them are pretty neat in their own way. I don't think I have any one particular that I'm fond of over the others.

Â 2. How do you view interracial couples in -game-? Specifically, let's not get into a debate about whether or not it's 'gross' to you as a person or if there are too many people doing it.

If they like it, go for it. I have no problems.

Â 3. Do your OOC feelings towards a particular race make you more open or affect what your character is looking for when they're either flirting around, pursuing romance, or just, in general, acting differently towards those individuals.

Not really. My main character is... well. He doesn't necessarily care enough to let my own personal opinions get in the way =p

Â 1. Does your character seek friends or partners based predominantly on race?

Val'll hang out with anyone that's willing to have a good time. It generally depends more on who can stand him long enough =)

Â 2. How does your character view interracial pairings and are their feelings different from your own?

Val wouldn't really care, either. Well, now that I think about it, I suppose it depends. If he manages to spot a Hyur/Elezen with a Lalafell, he'll make some pretty rude comments just to get a laugh.

Most likely because romance is often associated with sexual intimacy and... that can get awkward with that level of size difference. Of course, there are a variety of creative ways you can go about it in spite of the size difference, but I suppose most people just don't want to go there. It's sort of silly, when you consider dwarfism, though I suppose lalas' childlike faces don't help much (while people with dwarfism don't really look like small children).

Personally, I don't see why not.

As another Lala pointed out, apparently, many Lalafell cherish large families. Would yours be willing to sacrifice a large family for love?

Honestly, I think you should try it as he might try it and see where it takes you. Maybe you'll find there are more people open to the idea than you think. Siobhain might even be open to a relationship with a Lalafell if she's given a good enough reason with a good enough male Lalafell. As I said in her wiki, she'd easily sacrifice physical love for true love if it existed for her. Can't say where she'll go, can't say I'd be there 100 percent, but if there's some way to view it, I'm excited to know.

Well the fact of the matter being, Yes, he would be more than willing to sacrifice a large family. The main reason being his backstory in he doesn't really have a family anymore. All he's known for most of his life before the calamity was being forced to help a no-named band of pirates. He's not so much a "Lalafel" as he is just an adventurer trying to find his place in this crazy world.

Honestly, if someone isn't even slightly intimidated by someone bigger than them, they might be alittle crazy. With that being said, He's not one to shy away from talking to someone just because they are bigger than him. He's short even by Lala standards, so that would just make him overly quiet.

The race-genders I like the most would be, in no particular order, Miqo'teÂ (males and females), Highlander Hyur (males and females), Midlander Hyur females, Elezen females, and Roegayden females but not all of them.Â Some Roe females look terrible, some look unbelievably hot, such as Merlwyb who I think I fell inÂ love with once I got to see her in a cut scene.Â I even wanted toÂ make a female Roe but had trouble getting her to look how I envisioned her so I gave up and went Highlander.

I don't care much for Midlander Hyur men,Â they're too...Â I don't know, androdgynous is not the right word.Â Just, more and more these days the ideal male isÂ turning into this pale, skinny,Â flacid creature.Â Â My ideal male image is big and bearded.

As forÂ Lalafell, they are adorable!Â But, you know, moe.Â I would probably be killed in Eorzea if IÂ were to really visit it.Â Die at the hands of an angry Lalafell.Â Everytime I have a quest involving one of those matcho evil Lalafell gangsters in Ul'dah, my only reply would be to pinch his cheeks and call him cute.Â Kind of like in "Elf",Â where Will Farrel's character addresses the "angry elf".

As for male elezen, most of them just look like tossers to me.Â Something about their aesthetics.

The only time I'd ever give pause to interacial couples in-game is if I saw a Roe or Highlander with a Lalafell, and then then it'd be nothing more than pondering the mechanics.

Yes, and I would question the sincerity of anyone who'd say different.Â You're character isn't really a person.Â However, your character seems real because they are gifted with the semblence of life.Â The source of that semblence is bestowedÂ to the character by its creator.Â What makes your character tick is really a part of you.Â So anything my character feels or thinks is really something I think or feel on some level.

Category B: Your character

Â 1. Does your character seek friends or partners based predominantly on race?

No, butÂ for Crim she'd favour fellow Highlanders due to the fall of Ala Mhigo.Â As for A'nari, I think she'd shy away from male Miqo'te due to the Sun Seeker social hierarchy.Â I will admit this is kind of my fault, as I made her before I had a real chance to read up on their racial lore, but she is a firebrand through-and-through and won't participate in one of those harems.Â She'll die alone before being a part of something like that.Â Now, I just need to think of a good reason why she's that way.Â I could definately see A'nari falling for a Highlander or Roe.

As an aside to A'nari, I don't like some of the facial expressions she has when being addressed by Thancrid in the cutscenes.Â I understand he's supposed to be some sort of Ladies' man, and he's got all the stereotypical hot protagonist cliche aesthtics sported by anime characters, but he seems like an utterÂ ponce.

Â 2. How does your character view interracial pairings and are their feelings different from your own?

I don't think they'd vary much from mine OOC, largely because my characters aren't bigots.Â As they have more time to experience the world, as these characters are in their infancy, that might change.

Thanks. I wanted to try to make a character that wasn't just a 21st century secular westerner in disguise. Or more specifically, that wasn't just me with cat ears. So I read up on all of the lore, and I thought long and hard about how best to incorporate that into my character. I thought it would be more interesting if I could sort of take on the mantle of being a regular Miqo'te, rather than being the exception to every single rule and just tossing all of the lore out the window. All the while adding some of my own concoction of flaws to his character.

It's something I've learned to appreciate much more as of late. Having serious character flaws or limitations will often make things so much more enjoyable. Like playing Skyrim as a self-loathing Orc who wants nothing more than to be a Nord, and having that colour every decision he makes.

And I too hope more people jump aboard the traditionalist wagon. If nothing else the contrast between tribal and non-tribal will make things more interesting.

I'm a sucker for the Elezen males! I think they're absolutely yummy if done right. (Sorry to be a fangirl here, I think its my love for tall men!) I also really enjoy any character made to look tall, dark, and handsome~. I of course think the Lalas are by far the cutest!

I think it's whatever! Depending on the type. I dont think Lala's should be involved with anything other than Lala's or it gets a tidbit odd. Other than that, let the lovings be shared!

I tend to make my characters enjoy the same types of guys I do. They won't necessarily pursue an Elezen man because they're my favourite, but they won't like a silly looking guy (we basically enjoy the same type, but not race necessarily).

Nala is more likely to stick to the more human-y races. She'll probably enjoy the Hyur men and Mi'qote on occasion. Of course, if an Elezen came into her sight, she wouldn't mind!

She thinks Mi'qote females shouldn't pair with Hyur men -- there's so darn many of the kitties, leave the Hyur to her!

I think this is merely a case of, perhaps, opening the minds of others with a sweet romance a-blossom between a Lala and someone who is not a Lala. I think when most of us say our characters would be a bit taken aback by seeing any large race, like a Roe, with a tiny, delicate Lala, we, or at least I, am usually thinking of a female Lala.

I'm afraid WoW has given me the predisposition of assuming that interracial couples usually start with a female that is more open than a male for some reason. Largely, Belf males were with Belf females, however Belf females could often be found flirting with anyone else, especially Orcs and Trolls.

After Jael'li pointed out to me during my quest chain that the Hyur female whose fiancee died was -apparently- engaged to a Roegadyn male I met earlier (o.o?) that idea suddenly became super cute to me. But small females and large males is a frequent occurrence largely, I think, because of the aesthetic. Large females with smaller males, especially a RoexLala combo is virtually unheard of-- or at least -I- have yet to hear of any such thing, even between RPers.

Sio is fairly set against male Hellsguard, but male Seawolves also put her on edge. Probably because she associates them with water and while she enjoys water in moderation, water in excess is no bueno. Adversely, anyone the size of a male Hyur or shorter makes her feel awkward about how large she is in comparison.

But I've tried looking for art to help me inspire a cute little non-canon picture with Sio and a male and it's excessively difficult to find any references. I did a sketch with her and Shippuu a long time ago but that was comedic, not serious. The only thing I'm going to say about Larger female with Smaller male.... And I'm sure EVERYONE will know what I'm talking about.... Snuu Snuu.

With that out of the way, I have to admit when I think of the larger of the couple, I immediately bring the thought of the male being said one. Mainly cause I still have the scene from Flames GC intro, where the sultana is hoisted up onto the highlander's shoulder to address the crowd.

I've seen old FFXI pieces with Mithra and Taru, but that's alot less of a height difference than Roeg and Lala nowadays xD

Yeah, some pairings just present awkward and very questionable questions if it's implied that the romantic aspect of a relationship leads to sexual encounters. I'm tolerant of many things, but I've found many role-players take tolerance too far and end up accepting a lot of stuff that is borderline illegal or at the very least would unsettle a great many people if brought up in the real world in casual conversation.

As a bystanding individual, I think I can be tolerant of anyone in love with anyone else of a different height or race. My mentality, in my opinion, is probably more strange than my character's in the world she lives in.

So as a roleplayer, I will accept plenty of things, I even like plenty of things-- none of which are illegal. And I'm a fairly conservative person. I think talking about sex in public is always unsettling.

I see where you're going with it, but to put it bluntly, I don't agree with you and I don't think your stance really pertains to interracial relationships. But if anyone in the real world was offended by someone with dwarfism or any height-impeding situation marrying someone of average height, or the opposite, like someone with gigantism with someone of normal height, I think I'd be sad to see their intolerant reaction.

I played a Human in WoW that was dating a Gnome, so I'm not all that judgmental about interracial couples. I could even tolerate a partner being a Froglok or Ratgona in EQ, but it would be so very weird. What I can't imagine dealing with is being with an Undead in WoW, even if they happen to look halfway decent. That's probably the one line I can't see myself crossing.

Now, does that make me a pedo in the case of the Gnome or a furry/into bestiality with the Ratonga/Froglok? No, of course not. It's no different than dating another human of a different color, or hooking up with a vaguely humanoid alien when we eventually make contact. They're completely different boundaries, though someone will always make the comparison. I know a furry who views bestiality as sick, despite playing like he's an animal.

Then again, a Lalafell will no doubt have to consider the fact that certain perverts from the larger races might look at them as children in some ways as a means of fulfilling their fetishes, but that's no different than Miqo'te having to be wary of the other races who may simply view them as exotic.

If both parties are consenting adults, they can do whatever they want, no matter what their body looks like. What people look like is the least problematic thing that could come up in a relationship, sexual or no. Things like lack of consent, objectification, emotional/physical abuse and so forth are much more problematic than having sex with a consenting partner whose body is different from yours.

Of course, consent implies the partner is -able- to consent, so I wouldn't consider sex with a non-humanoid race problematic. Maybe weird, in the "I don't get how you can be attracted to that" sense, but not problematic. What is problematic is having sex with animals, since they can't consent to it.

That being said, obviously if the size differences are too brutal, you probably can't have certain forms of sex without mauling the smaller partner, so you'd have to get creative. As long as both partners are consenting and happy, power to them.
