I don't think you need to worry about doing anything special. If I remember correctly, Lalafell are the most abundant race in Eorzea. I just play mine as if she was a tiny human. Just remember to not be extremely cute more than accidentaly (those emotes!), as playing a cute lalafell falls on the 'tired out' territory.
