Greetings, good roleplayers of FFXIV!

I have just bought this lovely game and I'm looking forward to finding some RP in it. I have joined Gilgamesh for now and am looking to find some linkshells or RP FCs to join.

Some stats about me:
-Experienced RPer, both forum/e-mail, P&P and MMO-based (WoW, LoTRO).
-Friendly, helpful and always willing to both help out or create my own action in-game.
-Artistically inclined Laugh

-Complete Noob when it comes to FF - this is my first Final Fantasy game ever!
-European time zone - so an EU community would be helpful.
-I've joined Gilgamesh for now, but am willing to change if there's better RP to be had elsewhere...

Not sure about the EU community so hopefully someone chimes in on that one. I do believe there is a group that networks on either Gilgamesh or Balmung. Best fortunes and have fun out there.

You'll find plenty of artists down in the forums who you can share art with, doing commissions is a pretty reliable way to get some gil around these parts [when they can scrape enough together to spend.], people just love art.

I'm not very familiar with EU communities on Gilgamesh since I haven't spent much time there, but i'm sure if you took a look at the linkshell hall and followed up with the OOC hub linkshell I link below they could point you in the right direction.. anyroad, I have a few things i'd like to share.

This welcome post will give you a little overview of the RPC, mentioning a bit of history, what resources you have at your disposal and listing a few of the community key members. [Also as note Kylin has stepped down as Admin and FreelanceWizard has stepped up to take the role..] SO hopefully this will help you explore a bit more, I'm a big fan of the character wiki pages and the Lantern [an IC publication.]

You mentioned some MMO-RP experience [wooo~ WoW, I was on Steamwheedle Cartel mostly but I also had alts on Wyrmrest and Twisting Nether] But in case you'd like the opportunity to brush up on some RP terms, or maybe take a look at some Eorzea specific mechanics Eva has put together:

A wonderful compilation of information. You'll find a index hidden at the top in a spoiler tag that should help give you an idea of whats covered and skip over the parts you already feel firm in your knowledge of.

But onto the communities! For Gilgamesh there is a OOC RPer hub that brings people of all different types together from across the server called "Coalition"

This would be a great place for you to get your foot in the door and find some more EU centered groups to interact with.

If you ever hop onto Balmung there is a comparable OOC linkshell in "Intermission"

Just thought I'd put a reply on since I'm brand new to FFXIV too, and I'm in the same time-zone as you (I'm from the UK). The only difference is that I'm on Balmung. If I ever consider swapping to Gilgamesh, or you want to swap over to my side, maybe we could arrange some RP to get us both off of our feet, or something!

I'm always surprised when people say this is their first Final Fantasy game, because the game is an absolutely nostalgic love-letter to FF fans. Then again, you could certainly do worse as an introductory game since it does have so many elements of the classic games in the series.

At any rate, welcome to the RPC and Balmung! I played LOTRO on Laurelin as well - Branfrith the Rohirrim guardian and Celothor the elvish champion.
