I'm just curious obviously there'll be people in relationships that RP with each other and I was just wondering, how does something like sex work in RP? Is it like sexting or something? Honestly I would like to get into RPing at some point in the future most likely with a different character to my current one, no definitely with a different one but, I was just wondering how something like sex works in an RP?

It depends on the people writing it. Generally things like that are sort of sorted out ahead of time in terms of what people are willing to write. Some prefer to fade to black, others might write out the scenes in a pg-13 sort of way, and some will write out explicit scenes. That said, the writing itself could be like sexting, or it could be written out more like a scene in a novel. It could be back and forth, or it could be written collaboratively without the back and forth. It might not even happen in game; some people choose to use another method (a chat program, email, whatever) for such scenes.

I think that sort of thing tends to be handled differently person to person. Some people prefer to act it out, just like you would with any other sort of RP (albeit this sort is most appropriately taken to private channels). And others are more like myself and prefer to "fade to black" and assume or discuss (or not) the goings on.Â

While "ERP" has a negative social stigma attached to it, I don't personally feel it's any of my business what people choose to do behind closed doors. Different people are going to have different preferences on how to handle it, and it should always be okay to speak up and say when you aren't comfortable with the direction an RP is going.

I'm not sure that answers your question much. ^^;; Basically, it works like any other thing works in RP, catered to the feelings of those you're RPing with.

It's really up to you how you want to handle it.

Some people fade to black and may or may not discuss general ideas of what happened (was it good? any soul-shattering moments? confessions? freak outs? etc). Other people like to actually roleplay it out. Others avoid the issue all together.

It's all up to you and how comfortable you are with the person/your rp. Bottom line is: You don't have to do anything you're uncomfortable with.

, sex isn't something I'm uncomfortable with tbh, I was just seeing how I should act when it comes to something like sex when I do get into RPing. Thanks again!

If it's not something you're comfortable with, then I don't think you have to worry about it. Sex doesn't really come up too often in RP unless you're actually actively looking for that sort, and even if you are - it is very, very common for folks to just 'Fade to Black' as other folks suggested.

Definitely discuss this with whoever you happen to be RPing with should you get to that stage in your RP. That was you can figure out where each of your lines are. Fade to black or full on ERP.

Â I've done the fade to black and RPed it out, and there's nothing creepier than someone clearly giving a character that wouldn't otherwise be acting that way their own personal sex drive.

Just saying, if you can't keep the OOC from bleeding into the IC, that's the best reason to fade to black.

I'll keep that in mind actually, I can see how easy it would be to unintentionally have you own personality bleed through in those situations.

I felt this was appropriate even though the moron who made it didn't know that "want's" is full of fail and lose. Also, he/she/it didn't capitalize Sith. Come to think of it, the whole sentence is just kind of rubbish. If you're going to play off of Uncle Sam then there's really no reason to add stupid crap to it.
