The goal of this thread is to provide an area where players looking to get involved and/or increase connections in Limsa rp will be able to see what is available at a glance. It might take off or it might not, but we won't know unless we try!

To help this take off, I will need people to post their group/story/plot in here that they are willing to open up to other rpers. The idea is that by doing this, people who have had a difficult time finding rp in Limsa will be able to reach out and get involved.

**Please note that if you are looking for a place to post details on your individual character who is primarily or frequently involved in Limsa RP, you should browse/post in the Limsa Lominsa Directory. However, if you want to start rp with your individual character or have a plot hook for that character, post away.**

**Please do not post here if your rp is private or not open to outsiders looking to get involved.**

RP Groups: Groups who primarily rp within Limsa Lominsa. These can include those that are purely IC or OOC and do not have an associated FC or LS. Please include your group even if it does not operate in Limsa Lominsa all the time.

How to Use This Thread

Post in this thread with the name of your plot, ongoing event, or group; the RP styles of this plot, ongoing event, or group (listed below); what it is (plot, ongoing event, or group); contact(s) and any appropriate outside links (be it within the RPC or outside); and a brief summary of what is going on with your plot, ongoing event, or group. I will then list your plot, ongoing event, or group in the appropriate section in alphabetical order.

RP Styles

Different people enjoy different styles of RP. To help make it faster for people to find the type of rp they like, I will be using five very basic categories to tag people with. Please note that your rp can have one or all of these. If anyone has suggestions towards a different method of organization, by all means speak up. Smile

Law & Order
[LO]

The rp is played in part from the perspective of Yellowjackets, Mealvaan's Gate, Maelstrom, Barracudas, or civilians who are voluntarily (or otherwise) taking up the defense of Limsa against any and all threats.

Legitimate Society
[LS]

The rp is played in part from the perspective of citizens or visitors who play in some part by the rules. Whether or not the people themselves are actively honest, what they are doing or are participating in is legal.

Black Markets
[BM]

The rp involves breaking laws, and probably the black market. This rp is played from the perspective of smugglers, thieves, pirates, and any other individual or group who deals under the table.

Predatory Society
[PS]

The individuals in this rp differ from the above in that they are specifically looking to somehow take advantage of and control others. They might even be interested in controlling territory, and whatever business happens within that territory. Gangs/mafia, or any nobility types or governmental types looking to accrue power would belong here.

Random, Connections or Fun
[RCF]

These are events and plots that are more focused on getting together and letting things shake out however they may. They do not necessarily have a specific focus, but are more aimed towards socializing or, well, anything else. Beach parties, tournaments, and other such amalgams of different folks that doesn't focus on any of the above would be included.

IC: EoS is a treasure hunting pirate crew, somewhat begrudgingly inherited by Faustina. We do not necessarily do anything super illegal, but the occasional swiping of treasure maps/information has been known to occur. Though we are affiliated with the Order of the Twin Adders, we are mostly based out of Limsa Lominsa. We try to make as much money as possible off our ventures!

[LO-LS] Harbingers of Dawn <<HoD>>

IC: Harbingers of Dawn--those who foretell of the coming of a new day. The dawn is a symbol of starting over, the light cutting a swarth through the darkness. This is the ideal for which we strive. Harbingers of Dawn is a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to protecting and aiding the citizens of Eorzea. We stave off threats from animals, Beastmen, the Garlean Empire, and Primals alike, as well remedy the destruction such enemies and the Calamity have caused. With a loose purpose and varied roles for our members, Harbingers is a rag-tag allegiance of adventurers that allows for different goals and unique approaches among its members so long as all fall under the vague ideal of doing good for Eorzea. With three separate branches--Martial, Strategy, and Support--Harbingers is self-maintaining and has a place for people of all talents.

OOC: We're a good-aligned, med-heavy RP FC of ragtag heroes and adventurers (and whoever else can worm their way in). We're rank 8 with an IC linkshell, small FC house, and weekly events. [LO-LS] Mysterium, the Ivory Tower

IC: Mysterium, known to some as the Ivory Tower, is an order of mages located in Limsa Lominsa and affiliated with the Maelstrom as a Free Company. The somewhat secretive "Wizards," as they're heard to call themselves, of Mysterium are known to be keenly interested in complex magical problems and allegedly explore the limits of magic theory through both archaeology and practical research. In fact, several of their members regularly consult on issues of Primals and magic with the Grand Companies of Eorzea. The Tower maintains an office in Mist where those who need assistance with Aetheric problems can seek their counsel.

OOC: Mysterium is a heavy RP Free Company based out of Limsa Lominsa. We're happy to act as "consulting mages" for plotlines involving magical elements and are always looking for new members who seek RP that can be reasonably described as "Hogwart's faculty lounge crossed with Avengers Tower." Our focus is more on magical research and camaraderie than training new spellcasters, though individual Wizards have been known to take on apprentices from time to time. We have both an IC and an OOC LS and have provisions for non-members to have access to both linkshells as "Dear Friends."

[LO-LS-PS] XI:7

IC: XI:7 is a multi-faceted corporation living under the motto "Noblesse Oblige" or the obligation of those with power or influence to use it for the greater good. The ultimate goal is to bring the Seventh Dawn to the world, ushering in an age of peace. However, that goal is far from reach, so the company works to bring the world closer one day at a time. Needing resources to make a great change in the world, they are invested in manufacturing, transportation, research and development, and any other market they can use to invest in the realm.

OOC: Think ShinRa, but for the good guys. XI:7 is a very public company, so they work within the law and work to uphold the law, however I added in Predatory Society because they are aggressive in gaining territory of influence and doing what they can to gain more power. Some areas of the company works like a mafia because they believe in having the power for themselves so someone corruptible won't have it.

Recruiting? We are always happy to bring in new recruits, however we only bring people into the FC who maintain a level of appropriate behavior, both IC and OOC. We have no interest in becoming an overly large company, so we bring in those we can actually get to know and play alongside with.

[LS-PS][Plot] Genesis

A rival corporation created by a group of Ala Mhigan refugees, on the surface it is a corporation similar to XI:7. However, the true goal is to lead the world into its own destruction, so that a new order can be built from scratch. They want to erase every race that is not Hyur and stop the use of magic so that there is an equality in the masses. They keep a clean record, so this plotline deals a lot with corporate espionage/warfare that happens beyond the public eye.

Tensions rise between prostitution rings and their affiliates as they pursue revenge and the right to legally practice their business in Limsa Lominsa. Andralyn Thatcher and her Heaven's Gate take on allies to fight Tabart and his Jaded, as well as longtime nemesis Luther, in a slow-burning bid for survival. Neither side intends to let the other come out alive.

The Smiling Demon is an alias given to a man that travels the realm wearing a smiling mask. This man (or whatever he is) preys on those who have lost loved ones that they feel they cannot live without. Since the Calamity, there has been many he could reach out to. He strikes a deal with these broken hearted individuals in order to bring their loved ones back, however they are not as they once were. The plotline revolves around investigating the nature of this man's dark deals and finding a way to stop them all together.

I realized that the first post made it kinda sound like I don't want individual characters posting in this thread at all (I do, just not for character templates so as not to overlap with the Limsa Directory), so I edited to clarify. Do post in here if you have rp or want to get involved with rp or have an idea for rp in Limsa Lominsa!

In that vein...

Limsa Lominsa Wide RP Brainstorming

I was talking with ArmachiA, and she suggested we maybe try to open a bit of discussion on various ideas for rp that various people (in FCs, out of FCs, whatever) could participate in that would take place throughout Limsa Lominsa so we can get more open street/dock rp!

What We've Got

Some things the city offers:

Pirates
Smuggling
Reform
Big trade port
Loot
Mealvaan's Gate
Foodies
Fishermen

What the various groups (not counting individual contributions -- if you have an idea or thing your character does in Limsa, please do speak up) offer:

Magical expertise
Tavern
Protection focused groups
Pirates
Companions
Merchants
Possibly entertainers (waiting on a reply back; not sure if still active)

What we need:

A "local" hangout, so to speak, something that when people say "I'm having a hard time finding rp in Limsa" we can point out "oh, have you tried going to ____ ?"

This is something that will need to be developed organically as well as theoretically; we can posit places all day, but if no one actually goes there, it won't happen.

One idea would be the Rum'n'Rumble, but the major drawback to that is that it's difficult for new rpers who aren't on the RPC to stumble across it, and would take rp away from the streets. I'm not particularly fond of the Wench or Bismark, but there is that little gem tucked away next to the aftcastle: The Missing Member. Major drawback? It's cramped. But it does feature balconies!

What about you guys? What are your favorite places in Limsa to rp or, barring that, favorite places that you wish you could find more rp in?

Ideas

I love tossing ideas back and forth, so please do throw out some of your own! Some very basic seeds I had in my head that could maybe develop into something greater:

Bounties
Treasure hunting (details would need to be ironed out, and someone would need to be willing to take helm, but it would be neat for there to be a pot at the end of the rainbow for those who find it)
Disappearances potentially tied in to some sort of magical whatsits.
Murdering something on the loose (would need someone to play the murdering something) -- double whammy: have the murdering something hanging out in revitalized hangout spot, and people need to figure out who and how. Possibly allow for eventual capture + turning into authorities end in escape
Carnival. Everyone loves carnivals, right? Especially when they involve booze and wenches, yo ho!
Mysterious artifact with some sort of magical application that causes Negative Whatever that keeps popping up and disappearing.

So there you have it. Suggestions, ideas, running wildly around shouting random things in the hopes that something sticks are welcome -- I'll take all of it. Big Grin

I've generally enjoyed RPing in the Missing Member; the seating is a bit limited, but the balconies are really cool (especially when it's storming). It's also a bit off the beaten path, since the only thing that's there is a very low level quest. I'd definitely support more RP there. Smile
